Out of fondant? Is there some sort of guideline to follow as far as how long fondant takes to dry ( how long in advance should I start making pieces before I put them on the cake?) What do you use to secure all the pieces together once they're dried? I tried searching for it here but I couldn't find anything. Sorry for so many questions. Thanks.
I followed the directions on this website! I'm new to posting so I don't know how to put the direct webpage for you, but this is what I did. The search to your right. I just put in How to make Fondant bow and it came up! I used this and made my first bow and it turned out great! I made mine a week in advance to let the fondant dry!
Sure you can, but it would help if you either kneaded a little Gum-Tex or gumpaste into the fondant to help it dry harder. Once the pieces are dry, you can use a little extract on a paintbrush to glue the pieces together. There are other ingredients you can use to help the fondant harden but Gum-Tex and gumpaste mix are usually available wherever Wilton products are sold.
Hope that helps! ![]()

Yes, this is the article I'm talking about! I'm sorry I couldn't get it for you, a blank page popped up on me this time to-Strange! Thanks Randa_000 for posting it!
I've had them dry after a day, but the longer you can let them dry the better you will be. Also make extra pieces because I have yet to make a bow with out breaking pieces. I also always add in Gum-Tex to my fondant.
To glue them together you can use a ball of fondant/gumpaste or royal icing. I prefer to use candy melts as they harden faster and give me a chance to move on to the next layer.
I also make my loops different lenghts. Your top pieces do not need to be as long as your pieces that go around the bottom. I usually make a few pieces that are a bit skinnier as well. That away you can fill in holes where a wider piece might not fit. I also make 4 or more tail pieces, putting some around the bottom and then a few up in the bow if I need to fill in an area.

Also adding gumtex doesn't have to be an exact measurement. According to Wilton you can add 1 tsp to half a box of fondant. I've added more if I needed it to dry faster or to make it a little harder.
