This is the first time I have ever used fondant. It was so much fun. I know everyone here says to try Wilton's first, so I did. I just love fondant now, thanks to everyone here! When I told my DH, I was going to be making a cake, he said oh no. Because i always have different colors of frosting (2 kids) all over the place. He's never been that big on me making cakes. till tonight, he asked if he could take it to work and let all the guys see and eat it. He's never asked that before. I have learned so much from this site thank all of you for helping us (those just starting out). please I welcome every ones criticism. I know its not that good but it can only get better from here. sorry so long.

I LOVE fondant! The first time I ever used it, I made my own MMF...I was hooked!
I must be part of the minority that said TO make your own first! thumbs_up.gif

Me too I am totally afraid of BC! You did an awesome job!! way to go!!!!!
I too made MMF for my first time with fondant and I am totally hooked as well. Why try and smooth BC for hours when you can hide it with pretty pretty fondant!!!

trust me when I say not "everyone" here says to use Wilton's fondant. I think it is nasty and chemical tasting. You shoul try making your own - and not just the MMF. It is so easy to make. I can make three batches (6 pounds) in about 15 minutes.

Great job! I love working with fondant too. Not all the greasy messy clean up of BC.

Wow! Your cake looks GORGEOUS! I just started using fondant myself but have never tired to make those beautiful drapes. I love the flowers on the top of your cake as well as the color of the fondant. Very neat and smooth.

Great job!

I store fondant in a ziplock freezer bag tightly with the air smooshed out and tightly sealed, left n the kitchen counter. It keeps for quite awhile that way.

I wrap it in two layers of saran wrap and then store it in an air right tuperware container at room temperature. It will keep for months.
