I hoping you great thinkers can help me figure out what to do with a Sweet 16 cake for someone I don't know.

After grilling her mom, who I don't know either, all I know is she is a girly girl who does cheerleading, plays softball, likes Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister clothes and Tiffany jewelry. She is a good student and likes to hang out with her friends.

What do I do with that? I thought of the Tiffany cake but just a plain Tiffany cake doesn't seem very sweet 16ish.

Any suggestions based on the little information I have? She's having a party for 40-50 people but I can make the cake smaller because she is having other desserts. So size is really flexible. She wants me to surprise her.

Thanks.

How about a Tiffany box with a Tiara on top?

What about one of those purse, shoe combos you see posted here... I have a couple saved in my files, they are pretty, girlie, and would be great.... what about a car, is she getting a license or car for her birthday?

No car that her mom mentioned.

I'm not sure about the purse cake because I don't know her taste and her mom said she wears make-up but is not big into it.

I like the idea of combining the Tiffany cake or color with something else. Just not sure what.

maybe you could do a set of keys, or one big key with the box.... of course asking if it is ok 1st.... or a license looking cake and get a pic of her from her mom and have it put into an edible image for the license.

what about several (4-6-8") stacked square cakes wrapped in tiffiny blue fondant, white bows and jewelry spilling out (collette peters style)- pearls, rings, etc.

i LOVE how i see people making names out of gumpaste, swirling a long rope together to make it look cursive...you could add her name as a topper or lean it up against one of the tiers.

some hearts or pearls on swirly wires would be a nice bling bling touch.

What about a topsy turvy cake with girly colors and lots of swirls and stars on it. Duff just did one a couple of weeks ago for a Sweet 16 and I loved it.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I do like the way people make the names out of gumpaste. Maybe I could write Sweet 16 in gumpaste and put it somewhere.

I don't know if she's a young sixteen (hearts and flowers) or an older sixteen (car keys, makeup, cell phone). I guess I will have to try to do something in between so I won't be too off either way.

I think it's tough when the customer doesn't give you any ideas at all.

are you stacking the cake?

how about a 2 tier stacked, pink fondant with super sparkle dust all over, thick chocolate brown satin ribbon at the base of each cake, sweet 16 in gumpaste? maybe a fresh gerbera daisy on top? simple and can go either way, young or older taste.

I think the idea of a tiered cake with stuff swirling up the tiers to the top with her name would look pretty cool. The fondant stuff on the cake could be like a set of keys, an edible driver's license, a small tiffany box, pearls and necklaces, a few pieces of clothes and a few purses. Pretty much all miniature stuff swirling up to the top.

Just an idea!

Nikki_B I like that idea very much. I was trying to think of a way to incorporate all these little tidbits about her into one cake. I like the swirling idea up to the top. Maybe I could even put some flowers in there for color, too.

Thanks everyone, you have given me some great ideas.
