I've got a request for a thicker cream type filling (vanilla flavored) for a yellow cake. She mentioned cream cheese, but I think she may have just meant the consistency. Then she said a custardy or pudding kind of filling.

I don't have a good recipe for this. Any idea or threads anyone?

Thanks,

Sarah

I don't know if you prefer not to use store-bought or what, but I just tried a new one of Jello's puddings called "cheesecake" in a yellow cake with buttercream frosting and it was SOOO yummy! In the cake it didn't really taste like cheesecake, more like a bavarian cream or a custard flavor. I would maybe add more vanilla or make it with whole milk or cream (can you do that with pudding??) so it's richer and brings out the flavor more against the cake, but it really was a unique flavor for a Jello pudding! I hate eating cake, but I actually had several pieces of this one!! MMMMM!

I've actually tried a cooked egg and sugar based one and I liked this one much better. HTH!
