I was makeing a thick batch of chocolate buttercream when one of the mixers stopped and then the other one gave way I think I must have burnt out the motor ![]()
It's not a kitchen aid just an inexpensive one I bought two years ago but with 3 cakes and 40 cupcakes due for tommrow this couldnt have happened at a worse time I dont even have a good hand mixer
I guess this gives me more incentive to save up for the kitchen aid of my dreams.
Oh no! Best of luck getting your cakes done. If you lived here, you could borrow my KA tonight. ![]()
Do everything in your power to save up for the KA. You will never ever regret buying one. I couldn't live without mine. It rates pretty close to the top of the list of my favorite possessions!
The grandkids might rate above it but it would be close. ![]()

Just kidding..........

Thankyou guys i'm definityly going to save up for that ka well I got my cupcakes done and 1 cake from the bc I had already made up the other 2 cakes will just have to not get done they wernt pay cakes just little ones I wanted to make for friends for valentines I guess they will just have to be happy with the millions of chocolate covered strawberries I made.
There must be something going around! I was making a heart shaped cake for DH a few minutes ago and mine broke right as I finished mixing the cake batter.
I have a tiny bit of BC left from the last cake I made, but not near enough to even start icing the cake. So, my DD is on the way to the store to get pre-made icing (yuck!), but I don't have any other choice right now.
Got a walmart nearby? Ours is open 24/7 and they have kitchen aids, i think. I have a Cooks from JCPenny, pretty much like a KA. Got it on sale for half price ($150!), but I have to say, I still like my standard sunbeam stand mixer. I like the way the bowl spins on the platform and you can shift the bowl from the center to off center. When I need to use attachments, I use my Cooks, but for everyday recipes, I like my sunbeam.
Actually my KA broke a couple months ago making MMF. I used a 10-1/2oz bag of marshmallows instead of a 16 oz bag. I just wasn't paying attention. I still haven't fixed it yet (the closest place I can go to to fix it is over an hour away!).
Anyhow, ask your neighbors, family or friends. There usually are lots of people who own KA mixers that don't use them all that much. I'm using my sister's that she only has used once in the past 2 years she's had it. She's crazy for not using it, but I'm lucky she doesn't!!
Good luck with your mixer - I hope you get a new one soon!!
OH NO!! A broken mixer..how will you survive????!!! ![]()
I absolutely positively couldn't !! I hope you get a new one soon, KA or otherwise.
I saw some KA's on Ebay that were pretty reasonable.
Hope you get one soon..ps..get a KA if you can
you won't regret it.
Thanks guys my husband is so silly he keeps telling me you have hands dont you what do you think people did before there were mixers. There was life before mixers?
shock who knew ethier way as we all know this is a very busy cake season so i'm on the hunt for a new mixer today someone said ebay had some good ones? I'm sorry about your mixer shortcake do you feel naked like when you take off a piece of jewlrey you always wear? I wish I could just go to walmart and pick up a new one but I dont have that kind of money so I will just work with a hand held until I do but the next mixer I buy will be a ka if I have to make a hundred cakes with a hand mixer to be able to afford it. Do you all do that take all the money you make from you cakes to buy more things for your cakes its a sickness I swear. ![]()
Thanks Heather, yeah I can relate to spending cake money on more cake supplies. I had to borrow my Mom's hand mixer just to finish up what I was making hubby and kids for Valentine's Day. I have burned up about three hand mixers of my own when mixing BC, and have been wanting a KA for a long time. Sounds like it's about time for both of us to invest in one.
Good luck. Hope it works out for you soon!!
