I would like to make a 3D Thomas train cake. Should I use Candy clay or MMF for his face. I live in the South where the humidity is high. How long in advance should I make it? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have only made candy clay once, and found it was kind of sticky. I also did not think it tasted that great. The candy clay was easier to make the MMF - and it may have been that i just needed to add less corn syrup - or maybe work with more powdered sugar when molding ??

Well I have probably been no help ! But I think if I was doing it I would go with fondant, though I admit by choice is based largely on my comfort zone.

Chocolate clay will work fine. You can make the face anytime. You can put the item in the fridge to hurry the hardening process.
