Hi all,
Can someone please tell me what went wrong. I was trying to make red icing, I was using Americolor Super Red and Red Red. When I did the decorating it looked red but when I brought it up to work to deliver it the decorations looked almost burgundy. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bradymom

Were you coloring buttercream? If so, the color darkens as it sits. You may have added too much coloring. It's better to add some and let it sit for a while because it will darken up.
I you have some more white buttercream, you could add it and see if it will lighten up some.

I had to learn to color buttercream over a long period of time. I always let my icing sit for 24 hours AFTER I color it. Americolor really darkens after a while.

Yes, sounds like too much coloring. When I make red or black I make it a day ahead as it will darken over time. I also use Americolors so they really darken!
