I am thinking about the Artesian(sp?). Since I am just starting out . Do you think that one will be good enough or should I go bigger?

Thanks!!

Go as big as you can afford!!! I bought the 4.5 quart Ultra Power a couple of years ago, and my ONLY regret is that I didn't get a bigger one (even though it seemed huge when I got it!)

You know what they say -- The bigger the better! Seriously, I have the big one and I love it. It's worth everything!

I have the artisan and I LOVE it!

In fact, last year near the Holidays the 6qt professional was on sale and I was so excited to buy it! However, I ended up returning it beacuse I wasn't as happy with it!!

The Artisan is the largest (5qt) that has the tilt-back head. I know some poeple love the bowl lift thing, but I really prefer the tilting head. I also wanted the larger one, thinking that it would be more "stable" and more powerful, but I didn't see any difference at all in the two.

I am also waiting for my first KA.
I will get big one when I can afford it.
Hopefully that day will be on the way (soon)!

I'd get the biggest you can afford too. They're expensive enough that you don't want to get one too small and then need to worry about saving for a larger one later. If you make a lot of cakes, or make larger cakes, if you do weddings, I'd get the biggest you can.

Well!!! I GOT THE RED ARTSIAN!!!!!!!! I LOVE ITT!!!!! Kohl's had it for $299.99 I got it for $239.99. They also had the bigger one for 399.99 on sale for 287.00 but I decided against it because I read the artsian is quieter and I do a lot of my baking when the kids are in bed.....

I have stated this before and I will State it again. Most people buy appliances based on the capacity. I personally think it's more important to consider the wattage of The appliance first. The more watts you have the more power the appliance has. There really is no point to having an mixer with a big capacity if the mixer has to strain to mix what's in the bowl.

Sorry I just had to rant because it seems that everyone talks about the size of the bowl and not what's under the hood so to speak.

I guess a lot of it has to do with the volume of baking you do. If you are constantly going to be doing huge batches at a time, get the biggest you can afford to. If you are just a simple homebaker, the artisan should do the trick if anything.

yes I agree with cake princess, my husband made me buy a commercial blender one week after I bought myself a regular one ok cheap one it cost 15.00 and I thought a blender is a blender....wrong. I love the commercial one is has tons of wattage the guys that sold it to my huband told him it had some crazy number of horse power .....I was like is that nessacary....I guess we could always convert it it to a go kart .... my point is 7 years later works like new and I have never had a problem so when I first started baking ( my daughter was 1 yr old and we were making gingerbread cookies) i blew out my hand held mixer and ran out and bought the best KA i could afford ....3 years later ..still works like new and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT....
