Over the weekend I tried the NFSC, I used a simple heart cookie cutter and decorated in shades of red, pink and hot pink for Valentines Day. They turned out sooooo cute! I packaged them 3 to a bag, tied with a red ribbon and brought them to work today. I SOLD THEM ALL!!!! I made $52.50!!!!!!!!! I think I'll go home tonight and make more, these people went crazy for them. I'll post pics later today.

Fantastic! How much did you charge for each package of 3 cookies?

All it takes is a successful sale...and WHAMMO! Congrats on your new-found success! Once I began doing more cakes, I stopped offering cookies, but they're so lucrative (ok, not really once time is considered), I decided to continue to offer them around the holidays! I threw together a V-Day cookie flier and sold over $600 worth of cookies this holiday....I'm in the kitchen now baking my booty off! Again, they're soooo fun and people just love them!

How wonderful!! I have always wanted to try cookies but haven't had the time. Sounds like I need to make time!! I do have one question, do you bake them on a baking sheet or a stone?

I sold a package of 3 cookies for $3.50. I had intended to sell them for $5 but I they were not as perfect as I wanted them. This was my first time making roll-out cookies. Some were thinner than others, some were thick on one side and thinner on the other...if they had all been uniform I would have tried to ask a little more.

ccwkg...Baked them on cookie sheet lined with parchment

Are the NFSC supposed to be on the hard side?Made them today for the first time and DD found them a little too hard for a sugar cookie. She said sugar cookies should be a little softer than mine.

Thanks simplysweetcakes. I have never had good luck with cookie sheets but I will try again. Baking stones have become my best friend! I have burnt the top of something before I burnt the bottom. go figure....

Mine are generally have a crisp bite, but are soft on the inside. I just let them barely let the bottoms start browing before I take them out of the oven.

I understand getting bit by the cookie bug. I'm not even selling any, but I put together 5 Valentine cookie bouquets to give to my MIL to give to her friends. And I think I've volunteered to make a bunch of spring bouquets/centerpieces for a salad luncheon in May for her. I think I enjoy the cookies even more than doing cakes!

I have had that same bug at my house too! icon_biggrin.gif My hubby sold 14 cookie bouquets at work and is taking 14 extras to work Wednesday (because you know how people like to wait until the last minute to buy for V'day). Just starting out I have made about a dozen batches of the NFSC over the past 3 1/2 weeks. I stick to my guns on spending the extra money on "real" butter, especially with cookies! I recently purchased a scale for measuring flour (wonderful investment). I just hope the bug is profitable! My husband has a degree in art, so he has helped me out in decorating. It has been a joyful (and stressful) event for us. Getting started with cookies right before Valentines Day is giving us plenty of experience in the whole "cookie bouquet" world!

Omicake, I find they soften up a bit after they're frosted and soak up a little of the icing moisture.

What is everyone using to frost their cookies?

That same BUG is at my house too! I wonder if there is a cure for that Cookie bug?...I was all into cakes but now I prefer the cookie bouquets,, I sold 11 bouquets at work and sold 10 cakes for valentines...I am at home today trying to finish them all up...I delivered some this morning and got 4 more orders for cookie bouquets. I knew after others saw them they would change their minds and want one too..so I had already completed a couple extra. I am getting a little tired of hearts,X and O's and Lips. ....but can't wait until EASTER!!! I already got some ideas of what I will do and already bought some new cookie cutters and containers..
Guess that BUG will stay around my house a bit longer...LOL
