I am trying to make my first cookie bouquet. I put the sticks in the cookies before I baked them, let them cool, then decorated them. Everything seemed to be going great. Then today when I went to put the cookies in the container, one of the cookies started to slide down the lollipop stick and the stick broke through the top of the cookie. I'm afraid maybe I put the sticks in too far. Is there anything I can do to fix this? What about putting royal icing around the stick where the stick goes into the cookie? Any other ideas? Thanks so much!

You can use royal icing if you have time to let it dry well. Otherwise, you can use candy melts. It does sound like you pushed the sticks in too far. Gook luck.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but my first cookie bouquet experiment I had done this icon_redface.gif , when pushing the cookies into the foam, you weren't pushing on the top of the cookie, were you? Trust me, it does break the cookie very easily no matter how thick it is.

Thanks! I was so worried about not pushing them in far enough. Live and learn. I don't need them until tomorrow morning - I was just testing one out to make sure it would work. I will add the royal icing and let it dry. Thanks again.

MomLittr - It's very possible - My two year old was "helping" me so I probably wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing. I added royal icing where the cookies and sticks meet and will be more careful when pushing the cookies in next time. Hopefully this will help. Thanks!

I was going to say the same thing about pushing the sticks in too far....sounds like that could have been the problem!
