Hi my name is Amanda, I got wrapped up in the Food Network cake decorating competitions and want to try something small scale myself. I have been looking at posted pictures here all day of some amazingly beautiful cakes, I am so envious. I have read several "how to's" also. I have a question though that is probably silly, but what if anything do you use to make your fondant cut outs stick to your fondant covered cake? I see them use a spray can of something on TV but don't know what that is. Thanks for any help...Amanda
The spray can you see on TV is for quick drying chocolate...You can use vanilla or vodka to make your fondant stick to the cake....Hope that helps...
Welcome to our second home Amanda, watch out it is addicting, but a good addiction.
Haven't worked with fondant yet so can't answer your question, but wanted to welcome you, you will find so many great ideas and helpful advice here.
Welcome. I joined in October and I am very addicted. This is like my bible and I have learned alot.....anyways I use just icing to stick my fondant to my cakes. I have only done one fondant cake and I cut out baby clothes for a clothes line and I used the buttercream icing to help them stick. Hope I helped
Welcom to Cakecentral!!
You can mix equal parts of water and powdered egg whites...that makes a great adhesvie. Alternately, mix water with a ball of fondant until "soupy"...also a great glue!!
i use just water for small applications. for heavy stuff, i agree with everyone else's answers too. And you can use royal icing.
Welcome to CC, Amanda! Thus far I stayed away from fondant (that could be because for some reason I am anti Martha Stewart and she brought the stuff back to popularity), but hope you have fun playing with it.

Welcome Amanda!! I have only worked with fondant a few times, and I too just use a little water and a paintbrush. HTH

Welcome!!!! Using the water/vanilla/vodka technique works well for attaching small light stuff. I know of no exact difference of vanilla and water, but I do know that some people use the vodka because it evaporates quicker due to the alcohol. But If you are doing fondant bows or anything with some weight I would definitely use something a little heavier like some of the suggestions the other gals gave.
It's nice to have you around............
