I bought those little silicone mini-heart shaped molds from Wilton today. I am just wondering if there is anything special I should do. I would like to use Toba Garrett's Chocolate fudge cake and Moist yellow cake recipes, but am unsure how well they'll work with molds of this size? Also, do they just "pop" out as suggested, or do I need to grease/line them? Thanks for any input! icon_smile.gif

You should not have to use any grease or oils in the silicone. It helps baking to put the silicone on a cooling rack on a sheet pan. It lets air circulate and supports the soft molds in and out of the oven.

Let the cake cool in the pans before you try to unmold them. The steam in the cake will help separate the cake from the pan.

I am glad I ran across this thread. I bought some silicone Heart molds today at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 off. And wonder how to use them icon_redface.gif You know that impulse thing. I buy it now figure out how to use it later icon_redface.gif

I got one today too... full price though. icon_sad.gif
I poured white chocolate in them, let them set up for a few minutes, flipped it over on a cooling rack over a baking sheet, filled with BC and a bit of cake, then I sealed it with more white chocolate. My version of the petit four mold.

..oh, then I dusted them with my new luster dusts I got... wayyy nice looking... but then again, I was just playing around with them.

hope this helps,

Kay,
Mine are the dozen per sheet one. About 1 & 1.2 inches across. Looks pretty even without the dusts. icon_smile.gif

I am really glad I bought it.

You know what I did with my big cupcake silicon pans? I made individual pineapply upside down cakes for the guy who works on my car. Those I used the pineapple rings, but I bet the hearts could be cute with the crushed stuff and cherries on top. Something different and they unmolded so wonderfully, I put them on CC papers and boxed them. I have never seen them heart shaped, that could be something new...
icon_smile.gif have fun and let me know if you think of something else... maybe I could apply it to my big CC silicon pan...
