My Version Of Lambeth Method

Okay, this is all you're going to get. I have one more tier to put on. I shouldn't have even shown you all this much. I typically wait until after the show but if I did that with this I might not want to show it . You can tell I have confidence! I have so many of you out there in Cake Central land that have taken an interest in my project that I figured I owed you all this shot.

amazing...i so do not have the patience for that  And I am like you...perfectionist. If everything wasn't perfectly even it would drive me bonkers. you did an awesome job

on

Neither do I! :sssh:  You have no idea how many times I've taken those bottom drop strings off and redone them. I'll be doing it again tomorrow morning rest assured! :D

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. I am really excited to do this cake for the show but I always always second guess myself and I am definately doing that right now.

It looks great! I love the Lambeth method. What are you using for your instruction? I saw a great step by step tutorial once but can't remember where. It was on someone's website. Not the ugly two toned pics I've seen recently though. Someone doing a beautiful job. I can't wait to see your final product!

Fantastic!! That's really a lot of work & time! Good luck!! I wanted to ask the same question CarolAnn asked.. is there a tutorial? I've wanted to learn this method. Oh.. are you using RI or BCI? I can't see using BCI, too soft.

on

Thanks tc~it's definately royal icing. It can be done in buttercream but RI is highly recommended as it dries quicker and shows more definition. I am using my Joseph Lambeth book. Both of Toba Garrett's books feature her version of this style!

I can't wait to see the end result. I have seen the other pictures and that is going to be beautiful! the best of luck to you.

Great job cakemommy! I can't wait to see it all finished...remember to keep thinking outside the box and always look in your underwear drawer for insparation...LOL

on

I looked at your website after one of your posts and I must say, your cakes are absolutely beautiful. Your attention to detail is remarkable.

on

Just beautiful !!!! The detailed work is great and I love the color. I would say you did more than just a pretty good job

on

Thank you all! I am quite proud of myself. I was losing hope with that top tier. It was a last minute decision to add the scrolls and the curtain work. I wasn't about to rip off all that lattice...NO WAY! I had to salvage it somehow!

amazing job!...is this a class that you are taking or are you doing this on your own...it is amazing work...i was looking at toba's book today and was getting daunted by the prospect of it....it is just beautiful!

cakemommy, this is one of the most stunning cakes I have seen here. Absolutely stunning!

on

Thank you! I am kind of depressed with it right now so I put it away. Never mind I leave for San Diego in 8 days! I have to drive down there with this thing.

on

    I am just a beginner! There are far superior decorators of the Lambeth method on here like ShirleyW for one! She has given me such great advice on this cake. I really appreciate your compliment Aimee! I'm so embarrassed!

on

Wow, that is SO pretty very nicely done I wish my cakes looked like that must have taken a very long time

on

You are going to show us the finished cake after the show,Right? I have really loved seeing what you have done so far. It is gorgeous.

on

Oh I will definately show what the final looks like. I'll post after set up and before awards placements. I know I am not going to place because Foreign Technique is a tough tough category with professionals. I am an amateur decorator but will be place in this category regardless because it is a FT! I have no hope but hey, I wanted to do the cake anyway.

on

Is this the one you said you were hoping to get to San Diego in one peice?? Holy Sugar cones batman!!! I bow to your superior work!!! ;)

on

Let me tell you I am very picky and a perfectionist and I will not place a cake I don't love in my display freezer,I just love your work and I am crazy about any lace work I can't really make straight lines but I'm practicing I envy your level. This is what I call BEAUTIFUL

on

I got your message, thank you. I'm new with cake decorating ,I mean it's been close to 3 years and I consider myself new because I have no contact with other decorators until I found cc.LOVE your work good luck at the show let us know how it went.
