Hello All! I am Daniel ( from Long Beach, Ca. ) and am a newcomer to Cake Central. I have a problem; Silver dragee's are no longer available in my home State, California. people have suggested flouring sugar pearls with silver dust but they look dull and lead-like. Can anyone dorect me to an out of state decorating supplier? I would appreciate it, thanks and God Bless. Daniel

Kitchen Krafts is the only one I know of that carries the dragees that are considered edible when used as a decoration. They might ship to CA but I'm not sure. There are several other online sites that sell silver dragees but they won't ship to CA

Hi there -

I'm in Northern California and I ordered mine in both silver and gold from Golda's Kitchen supplies. They're in Canada, so be aware you're ordering in Canadian prices - but even after converting it was reasonable and quick.

Have fun -

They sells tons of great stuff and lots of sizes of dragees.

If you're going to use the silver dragees that are classified by the FDA as For Decoration Only...you may want to have your customers sign a waiver that says they understand that the dragees need to be removed before the cake/cookies/cupcakes are eaten. There have been a lot of lawsuits in CA which is why many suppliers won't ship there. Fancy Flours (love them too) is one that refuses to ship the dragees to CA for fear of being sued.

I think it's an over-reaction by the FDA...but you can read more about it here

FDA are always paranoid about something..
Just like Lustre Dust..the maker says NON TOXIC but it's ok to put on cake.. No one has died on me yet from eating Lustre Dust..as long as you don't eat a whole bucket of it... Dragees are made of sugar.
