I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was going to be doing a rather large cake this past weekend, so I orderd a cake support system from www.logicpic.com It's similar to the cake system from earlene's cakes, just not quite as expensive. I"m happy to report that it was a great success!!! I'll attach a picture of the cake. It was covered in fondant and very heavy!!! Even with the new support system, I was pretty nervous! Sooo glad it held up!!!! The bride was my best friend and she is so sweet I wanted everything to turn out perfect. The scroll patterns on the cake were designed to match her dress.
Poppie, the period got included with the link. Just type in logicpic.com and you'll get right in. ![]()
dolcesunshine, that is an awesome wedding cake.
I'm sorry about the faulty link! I tried to fix it, hopefully this will work now.
KHalstead, it's not EXACTLY like Earlene's support system, and I can post a pic of it, but the pics on the website are very informative about how it works. (much better than just seeing the part that I bought.) I actually didn't buy the plates and base. I made my own since I already had the foamcore board. I just bought the hexagon supports. Let me know if you still want to see a picture.
AmyBeth, the support system is actually inside the cake. The website shows starting with a thick cake drum on the bottom layer with a 1/2in. dowel sticking through it. each cake is placed on it's own piece of 3/16in. foam board. This part I did myself since the foam board and dowels are just general that you can purchase from anywhere. The part that I did order is a hexagon frame that has 6 pegs built into it for the dowels that will go down inside the cake. The cakes actually rest on this frame. I know this all sounds a little confusing, but there are pictures on the website I bought them from that are really nice and clear. ( www.logicpic.com ) As far as the cost, I ordered two 10 in. sized frames, one 8 in. frame, and one 5 in. frame. With shipping it was about $48. Still not cheap, but worth my peace of mind with this heavy cake. =)
That explanation did help for the support system. Those did confuse me a little. I was asking about the clear pillar things though. (I think that is the official name.
Sorry, my questions wasn't very clear because I don't know what to call those.
Oh, sorry! The clear pillars are the crystal look pillars that wilton sells, the 5 in. set and the 3 in. set.
Very large and beautiful cake! Awsome!!!Congrats! I'll be looking that site for more info.
Could you explain what is between the third and fourth ; and before the last tier?It seems to be flowers, but I'm not very sure.
TIA
Yeah, this picture didn't attach as clear as it was on my computer. It is an arrangement of flowers between each separated tier. I posted a better picture in the gallery.
