Hi All,

Where can you get Butavan? According to Earlene's Cakes, the company went out of business and she can't get it any more. Where are you guys getting it? Has anyone tried the replacement she has for it (ButrNilla)? Or, is Creme Bouquet the same thing? I can get it (Creme Bouquet) at countrykitchensa.com. On an earlier thread, they were talking about it, but nobody ever really said where to get these and what the differences are, etc. I want to make the Italian Cream Cake and the Cream Cheese Buttercream Icing Earlene has on her site. It sounds wonderful!!!!!!! Help please!!!!!

TIA

I know you can get Butuvan from Sugarcraft but I have not used it. I use Creme Bouquet and Princess Cake Flavor and get both of them from National Flavors. You have to call to order from them but they do have a website. The best thing is an order of $45.00 gets you free shipping. They are super friendly when you call them also. The price for Creme Bouquet is $6.65 (quart) and Princess Cake is $4.85 (quart). This is the best place I have found for flavorings. You will be like a kid in a candy store when you look at the website. I think they also may carry a butter-vanilla flavoring also. Hope this helps you out. icon_smile.gif

I got an 8 oz bottle of ButrNilla from Earlene's recently but have only tried it once and no real impression of it yet. But I'm happy as a lark to have discovered Creme Bouquet! That stuff is so delicious. It gives a light citrusy flavor that knocks your socks off it's so nice. I'm on my second bottle since I first tried it a month ago. It's my new secret ingredient for icing and white cakes. Yum!!

I just tried Creme Bouquet for the first time in my icing last week. I actually rec'd a call from the customer asking what I had changed.....not in such a bad way, they just preferred my "other" icing! I was so surprised! I used less than a tsp in my whole batch of icing because it's pretty strong stuff....BUT, I usually use Creme Royal (both from Sugarcraft). To be honest, I also prefer Creme Royal in my icing....I don't care for the citrusyness (not a word) in the Creme Bouquet, but it still smells heavenly! I'll try it in my white cakes instead!

Thanks CarolAnn & cambo. I really appreciate your responses & opinions. I'm glad to know that Creme Bouquet is not a flavoring that tastes like Butavan. I may use that later but what I was looking for is something closer to the Butavan. I like the idea that there is a flavoring that is kind of citrusy out there too. I may go ahead and order some to try out on my family this summer. That's when I prefer that flavoring.

CarolAnn, when you get a feel for the ButrNilla, please let me know. I'd really appreciate your thoughts and opinions on that.

And, cambo, please let us know what Creme Royal is, and what your feelings/thoughts are on it. Thanks so much for sharing!

Will do LadyMike! Definitely try the creme bouquet. I used it in a white cake AND the icing recently and everyone told be they just loved it. One of my neighbors (a male) even called and left a message to tell me the cake was delicious and the icing was "to die for!" That cracked me up as I would never have imagined him using that phrase. But he WAS right.

Ok CarolAnn! You sold me! I'm going to see if my cake store sells it this week and if not, I'm ordering it. I can't wait after this high praise! I'll let you know what we think when I get it and my family has a chance to review it. They just love being "judge & jury". judge.gif Thanks so much!

LadyMike,
I get mine at my cake supply store and the first time I just bought a 2oz bottle. I got the big one after that. My sis uses just a touch of apricot flavoring in her white cakes. It's her secret ingredient. She said people are always chewing real careful like trying to figure out what they're tasting. If they ask she just says it's a little something extra she uses and never tells them what it is. I'm the only person she's ever told. Creme bouquet has become my secret ingredient. Ü
