When I made this hotrod cake, I used black for the outline. I used silver disco dust and vodka for the chrome.

You can cheat and use stiff BC icing for the lining. Some people have a harder time using chocolate for the lining.

Do you have instructions? Check here:

Diane, that was a German Chocolate cake... I was thinking how do you custom decorate a German Chocolate cake????? Why, Chocolate Transfer! Of course!!

I have found when using ANY of the dusts- petal, disco, luster- that they adhere better when using vodka (no other liquor works as well) rather than water. Even Wilton teachers will tell you this if you can get them to break away from the Wilton format. They are taught not to tell this fact because they don't sell vodka... get it?? At least that is what I was told by a Wilton Instructor. Anyway, it really works. So, I have to trek to the ABC Store for cake supplies!!! lol!!!

You purchase the dusts from places that sell products other than Wilton. I have CK Brand. The shiny/sparkly colors are called Luster Dusts with the exception of silver and gold. They have those listed as Highlighter. The matte finish colors are called petal dust.

I also have some Silver and Gold liquid edible paint that you can only get from the UK (you have to know someone- it cannot be bought or shipped here commercially). It's supposed to be much better and you mix it with high grain alcohol. I haven't used it yet... I'm scared (yes, me!). The stuff was so expensive I'm afraid of messing it up. I'm waiting until my UK friend flies back into town and can sit with me while I play with it.

yes that is the easiest way. I find *for me* it is just easiest to use the precolored melts.
