Nut Cup Cupcake Etiquette

My DH seems to think that using nut cups for cupcakes are too much trouble. Seems the guys at work are having a hard time with them icon_eek.gif
So...just in case anyone else out there in CC land is having trouble justifying them (I think they are elegant myself) here is a pictorial on just how to open them.

Step 1. Grasp pleats using thumb and forefinger.
Step 2. Gently pull apart.
Step 3. Continue pulling pleats apart around the entire cupcake
Step 4. Cup cake is now ready to eat. Enjoy!

Being the nice, diplomatic person that I am ( icon_twisted.gif ), I'd be sure to mention how "odd" it was that men, who like to throw around how talented they are with fixing cars, lawnmowers, and other maintenance items, seem to have a problem pulling paper cups away from a cupcake!

Thank God he has a WOMAN around to show him how it's done! icon_cool.gif

Thanks for the great tutorial! I agree - they look much more elegant than regular cupcake liners.

I love them, but they always confuse people! Maybe I could print out the pictures above and place them as a how-to next to the cupcakes! LOL J/K.

Perfect timing! I am making these for my friend's wedding shower and was going to experiment this weekend.

I've also heard that coating the inside with cooking spray and then cutting a notch in the top rim so you can rip it off also works. Haven't tried it yet.

But great idea with the pleats - I never would have thought to do that.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread.

I have a question about using these cups and how many cakes you can get out of an extended mix?

and

Do you just put them on a sheet pan, fill and bake. Or do you have to use a mini muffin pan?

No need for a pan - just fill and bake.

Not sure how many you get with an extended mix...maybe someone else knows...

Just for more info - what extended mix recipe are you using? Different recipes have different yields.

the mix with the sour cream, extra egg, 1 c. flour, 1 c. sugar.

ah.. i was wondering this myself. i kept seeing them being used for cupcakes. but thought, how the heck do they come out looking pretty?!
