Heehee, since I get nagged about never posting pictures, every so often I do post one in the General forum. This one was a joint effort by my youngest, the 25 year old and me. I baked it, made the icing, made the fondant ribbon and the candy melt molded angels and booties and teddy bears. I made the squiggly things, she flat iced and combed the cake and did the borders and roses. I made the fondant leaves and pearls. Lots of fun for me to spend time with daughter numero two, haha. Unfortunately Mom here also got to do the clean up, hhmn, what is wrong with that picture, haha!

Heehee, thanks, but must admit the cross was plastic. I did do one up in fondant but I have been using a new fondant and it is not elastic, so it is giving me grief. I must admit for making things like ribbon and decorations, I prefer the Wilton one, it is much more elastic and doesn't break off. This one did. The fondant cross broke in the middle when I went to apply it, so plastic it was. Haha, I am not always a sugar purist. The daughter deserves credit for the decorating on this one though. My she is fast compared to her old mother, haha!

So beautiful!!! I love the "open book cakes"....is there a pan or do you carve them this way?
Love it!
There are actually two pans that Wilton makes or has made. One takes 1 mix and the other takes two, I believe. This was a one mix or 1 recipe pan, although I find it needs about a cup and a half more batter than a mix produces.
Apparently a lot of people have trouble with the two mix pan splitting down the middle, at least I have heard this complaint from a number of people, I haven't used this pan.
I think this is one of a few multi use pans that I would recommend. I have used it several times, it is a good investment. I also find the horseshoe pan, the cross pan and any sized heart pan, the wondermold, a ball and egg pan, very useful for multi purposes.

Squirrelly!!!! Long time no speak. How are you sis?? Love your cake. It's really beautiful.
Take care
Great Cake! Thanks for the tips on good pans to have, I have been wondering about which to buy and which aren't all that necessary.

Hi kiddo,
I am hanging in there, haha! How are you doing?

I'm doing okay, thanks. What have you been up to lately?? We've been missing you here!!
Hi Daniela,
Have been busy resolving a property issue that has gone on for about a year. We won, but it was very exhausting and stressful. Still trying to recoup lost sleep, haha!

Beautiful cake, Squirrelly!
Why'd you wait so long to show off your talent????
Enquiring minds want to know!!
Glad to have you back, SC, and what fun to finally see something you produced! After all, I'm sure you taught your daughter everything she knows, right?
Get some sleep, go get a massage, and come on back! We missed you.
Heehee, I actually do post the odd picture here, in the general forum, not in the gallery though. Thanks!
Well actually, daughter number 2 I think, got interested in cake decorating from seeing me struggle away at it, haha! But she did take a baking course and the only part of the course she liked was the decorating. She came in second in the wedding cake designs and then worked in it for a year and a half. Lately, she has discovered she can make a bit of extra money on the side doing it for co-workers at her new office job. Actually I learned how to make fondant from her and some commercial recipes back when she was taking the course. And I taught her a few things I have learned. But it is the first interest that we really share, so that is really nice.
She is really quick at it, from working in an in-store bakery. Quick and accurate. She doesn't get into the royal or fondant decorations, but maybe in the future. Haha, guess you can tell I am pretty proud of her. My oldest is getting into baking cookies and muffins and such. Hhmn, maybe one day, they will take on the job, haha!
It is fun to work with her because there are certain thing that we like to do and so we can share the load when we work together on her cakes. Wish she would come over when I am doing my own, haha!

That is great that you are letting her help now. I was always sorry I didn't encourage that when the girls were little!
That is cute that you have discussions about cakes.
I was terrible for never having a camera and depending on others to take pictures, which meant I rarely got pictures. But hubby got me a digital camera last Christmas that even I can operate to some degree, haha!
I do post pictures on another site, it was never my thing, I guess. I just figure that it would be duplicating posting here in the galleries, so I don't. But I do post the odd picture in the General Forum here, when I think about it. Heehee, it took a lot of nagging for me to even start posting pictures on the other site.
I have never been able to get one single picture to attach on the Wilton site, even with their help.

Heehee, that is ok Cindy, I can relate, haha!
Thanks, I love that angel mold, I should have bought two of them. Reminder to self, always buy at least two of every mold you like, haha!
Good night!
