1. First time to make MMF..........loved it.
2. First time to make FBCT........loved that even more, will definetly repeat
3. First time to cover a cake with MMF.......loved even more than the first 2
4. First outdoor wedding reception.......did not like it at all.

Actually now that I think about it, it was more than 4...

5. First time to sugar 25 lbs of grapes... not too bad, they were GOOD!!!!
6. First time to make two cakes in 24 hours......WILL NEVER do that again!
7. First time to make a cake base....I really liked this base.
8. First time to make fondant ropes...took awhile to get the hang of it, those knots were tough...kept getting stuck together before I could get the loose end through.

I guess that is it. I am sooooo tired... But had such a good time getting that way.

I want to vent just a sec........

The bride did not tell me the reception was outside, I got there and;
not only was it outside, but there were no tents and the cake table was right out in the sun.

Needless to say, the chocolate horseshoes could not stay on the cake. I put them in, took the picture and put them in an ice machine 100 yards away. I hope they remembered to put them back on before the pictures were taken. "Oh well", I told my assistant (MY Dear Sweet Mom) "it is not my problem." "She should have told be it was outside, I would have made them from fondant."

Not only that, flies were flying everywhere and landing all over the cake....SICK...I hope I don't have very many outdoor receptions.....not the best environment for a cake.

The cakes both look great! I cannot imagine an outside wedding reception without some sort of tent or awning over the cake and food, especially here in Texas!!

You did a wonderful job.

You did a wonderful job on both cakes!! It is so hard having the wedding cake & groom's cake to do. Every wedding I've done I did both cakes. The day after the wedding all I can do is sleep!!

The western cake was a great re-creation of the cake from the ICES Convention in New Orleans!! I want to do that cake some day!!! I hope I can do as good as you did!! Pat yourself on the back!! thumbs_up.gif Awesome job!

I loved the grape cake! Beautiful!! Your cakes are so good!!! Be proud of yourself!!

I think that you did a marvelous job on both cakes!!! Sorry it was outside. But that is their fault for not telling you. I love the ropes that you made!! I may be asking you for some advice on how to do those later! Keep up the great work!!

Honey...how proud of yourself you must be!

I have a tip for you and "ropes" get yourself a clay gun..and use the disc that has the circles ( looks like a circle and 2 ears...

Push your medium through that and all you have to do is put this long rope on the table and place your hands on both ends and push away from each other. one hand rolls up one hand rolls down..and...

you have..ropey looking thingie...( my most technical term there..lol)
