Has anyone else noticed a lot of years-old resurrected threads lately? What's up with that? I do find it amusing to see the number of people who used to be on here who aren't anymore in the comments, though.

Maybe people just get themselves all trained-up to the level that serves their needs and lose interest.

Or it gets repetitive and redundant.  Or they just quit decorating cause their kids are all grown.

(or the home business goes bust)

When I see someone post on an old thread, I always think they found the thread from doing a topic search. And I agree, seeing posters who are no longer here makes me wonder...

Agreed Mimi - I also think, for the most part, that they resurrected by new members that haven't discovered there is a date attached to each post in a thread.

I agree with JW, but isn't it nice to see people doing their own research and checking old threads for help and advice.

Why is resurrecting a dead thread seen as a bad thing?  I think its better than a new thread started on the same topic.  All info contained in one thread.

AIt is kind of frustrating to start reading a thread and not notice until halfway in that it is seriously old! But I have decided to take it as a sign that the search function is being used and try to be happy about it! :)

AYou're right, there is plenty of good stuff in those old threads! I think the level of frustration depends on why the person is here. For those members who come to offer their help and advice in their spare moments (and we LOVE them for that!) it probably is rather annoying to reply to a question only to discover that the person who asked it is long gone! Of course, their good advice can still be appreciated by those of us who are here. :)

I happen to see lots of these zombie posts come up too and I probably notice it more because it is someone with a similar business as ours.  They make up multiple user names that are very similar and pull up very old threads containing questions pertaining to the services they offer and then pretend to be a helpful new user who just "happened" upon the thread and then they post about this wonderful new product that they have been using... and give their website. blah. I just really dislike that. 

On the other hand, when I do see old posts come up that are not that sneaky spam stuff I think it is great! Like others said, it seems that people are using the search function and trying to find information for themselves.  I read WAY more than I post, but that is just my style haha :)  I always try to google or use the search function in the forums before posting and I'm always amazed when others don't. 

The 'New Posts' forum page does show the start date on the left hand side along with the OP's name.   so you can skip the oldies but goodies if you think it's stale.

When I realized there was a way to report it I really wasn't sure if I should but I thought about it and realized my personal business aside, I've been using these forums for a long time for my hobby and I dislike spam regardless of who it comes from and flagging it makes the forums better for everyone.

I flag them, too. I want to support CC and feel like if someone wants to advertise, they should pay for it. One  single  announcement where they aren't pretending to be doing anything but what they are is one thing (at least it doesn't bother me), but creating multiple users and pretending to be happy customers is an ugly thing to do.

I know of a person who did that and everyone just thinks is this is most wonderful person on earth, but in my opinion it speaks to her character. I wouldn't say who for a number of reasons and no one would believe me anyway.

Okay, now you have to send me a pm to tell me who it is, because believe me, there are people on here (and on facebook) who do this and we all know about it. Also, I'm nosy.

AThe multiple accounts pretending to be customers is one thing, but what i find irritating on here, other forums and facebook especially is the people who are/were on here (and there are a few i can think of) who handed out advice left and right but who don't really know what they're talking about. Then if you contradict them because you do know what you're talking about their unwitting minions cry about it. It's very frustrating to me personally, and i know to a lot of other business owners, when people online hand out business and decorating advice when it's obvious they're just googling the answer and they don't have any practical experience about the issue they're discussing.
