Great, now what?? - Page 4

Anna, I have your same affliction, and it isn't easy to say 'no'. ;) But cazza1 is correct - you deserve to take care of yourself and family first. If you don't need to do the cake, be upfront and tell Mrs. Witch so, or that the cake was promised for Sunday. You can deliver by 'X' time Sunday and that's the best you can do. I know sometimes it's hard to be tough, but if you aren't, there are people who will take full advantage and when all is said and done, you end up like you did last week. Been there, done that, and wish I hadn't!

I emailed her last Friday, telling her that no, she said Sunday, and that she can't possibly get it at 2 on Saturday, that it would either have to be Friday late, or early Saturday, and she completely ignored me until today. She replied "So what is the plan?" that is all! I am pissed all over again, but feel that now I HAVE to do the cake, since I baked it yesterday, and there is so little time now. She is on my "No cake for you!" list, though. We are going to do it, she will love it, and she is cut off. lol. I And I am going to modify my contract to state that if a cake is requested more than 6 hour earlier than previously discussed, then there will be an additional charge, like 25% more, or something. funny how we learn every time someone screws us over!

Right now I have a break on skate stuff, but he will go in waves... He always needs new trucks because he grinds them down to the axel, and that is the most expensive part! Then he will get a new deck, and next thing I know, it is broken in half. Now he is obsessively buying Playskool Galactic Heroes off Ebay, for our 4 year old...At least he comes home every night, right? He cooked dinner last night while I finished my baking, and then came out to the bakery to make my lace pieces for a cake on Saturday. He is really awesome!

Ohh we have heard of Ollie's. Your husband must LOVE working there.

We owned the only " authentic" skate shop here in Syracuse until he decided sitting behind the counter all day and selling skateboards was not nearly as exciting as actually being out skating ..lol. So now  my cake studio over-runneth with skate shop inventory thumbsdown.gif

I agree, at least they come home at night...can't skate forever :)

I wish I could get him to actually make the cakes with me. He will roll out the fondant if I'm tired, and help me line up the fondant ribbons when necessary.  He's also my best critic. If he comes in and tells me the cake looks great then I'm ok, but when I get a " yeah, that looks OK" , it's time to tear it apart and start over.

You have a great guy Anna...keep him thumbs_up.gif

He needs an Ebay store, my husband is always looking for skateboard pieces online! He is so picky, worse than any girl I have ever known. He HAS to have specific parts, or he can't skate. He also gets a discount in the store, but it is different for every product, so he an often get a better deal online. Actually, my husband wants an online store so bad, and wants to design skateboard graphics, too. He works in a metal fab shop, and is always making things for me, or for the house. He really is great! Awww, now I got be super nice to him, I am really appreciating him right now :-)

Kneading and rolling out fondant is tough work! And I actually got my guy more interested in cakes due to Cake Boss, Mike Amazing Cakes, and our own Crazy-Grey, who are all dudes. :-)
