Needed: Reviews of DH Professional Cake Mix

I am considering purchasing the new Duncan Hines Professional Cake Mix in 50# bags from a local distributor, but I would like to hear some reviews first from people who have used it. I use the WASC recipe now and was wondering if this can be used as an even substitute for a normal cake mix. I couldn't find that much information about it online. Can I use my same recipes? Also, I've always used Betty Crocker mixes. How would this compare? If it's an even substitute, it would turn out to be about $10-15 more than buying it as individual boxes, but it would be so much more convenient and hassle free not having to buy and open a million individual boxes of cake mix. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am also very interested in reviews. I met with a rep today who was out of samples! I would have to commit to a $500 order without trying it.

The minimum order through my distributor is normally $500 too, but if I go and pick my order up from their warehouse instead of them delivering it, they waive that minimum. You might want to check with your distributor to see if pickup might be an option for you. Then you'd only have to commit to one 50# bag.

I have used BC and DH mixes and they are very different flavors I think DH has a lighter taste, BC is denser and a little sweeter in my opinion, if your customers are used to your other recipe they will probley notice the difference

My distributor said that it isn't the same thing as the box mixes. Like you cant measure out 18 oz. of each and get the same results. He did say that it tastes the same if you follow the package instructions. I also use wasc recipe and would like to stick with it.

Does the new DH bulk mix contain eggs like the Pillsbury bulk mix?

I have purchased and tasted all the DH professional mixes.  The flavor is the same as the box mix and the texture is a little firmer which is good.  They do require eggs, oil and water.  I will be adding smaller packages of the professional mix on our website at GSA in January.  Most likely in 1.25, 2.5 and 5 pound bags.

Of course we all have our limits, but how can you possibly find your boundaries unless you explore as far and as wide as you possibly can? I would rather fail in an attempt at something new and uncharted than safely succeed in a repeat of something
