I am making a 60th anniversary cake this weekend! I have the cake made and I am working on the final smoothing of the icing. All the flowers are made. I want this cake to look really nice. I wanted to know what a really nice border would be good for the bottom on each tier. I am just a little tired of shells. What else is out there that I am missing!!

Thanks so much for your help! icon_smile.gif

W/o knowing the design it's really hard to say for sure.
Reversed shells?
Stars?
Look through my gallery for some other ideas.
Sorry, I'm out of time on the library computeicon_sad.gif

lace always looks nice depending on what your cake looks like. I have the lace impression molds and they work great! I will be doing an ivory cake with ivory lace as my border with flowers here in like a month but it turns out to be very elegent icon_smile.gif HTH

Pearls fondant or piped are nice. For me smaller borders are more elegant than larger

These are 2 sources that I like to refer to for borders. Both were posted by Than Than, way back when, right here on CC:

Thanks so much!

Wow--she always does such great work!

I just knew that there were other things than the few they teach you in wilton classes. I think I may have shelled, reverse-shelled, and dotted my time out. I like the ones that are layered with different tips.

Thanks again!
