I live in the same area as the OP. Its a holiday weekend here. One of our few 3 day long weekends. That usually means take off and go camping, fishing, beaching, boating, hiking, taking in the BC day celebrations happening everywhere, type of long weekend.
Bet you dollars to donuts thats why she's not responded!
Maybe they wouldnt give her her two minutes on CC and she started a riot and is in solitary confinement?
come on patty.. talk to us!! If you are on holiday..hope you had fun.. but it is monday night now.. time to get on CC and fill us in !!!
There is no way I would let someone inspect the cake and I definately would not be sending a picture of my finishsed work... I think your just giving them room to change their mind and do you really want to redo your cake.
Im leaning more towards letting her view the cake the more I think about it. Ive heard alot of people on here say that the cake should be treated the same as other important stuff like the flowers, the dress, the lighting etc. Using these statements as my basis.. The Bride gets to see the dress before the wedding, she gets to view the final result of the flowers and lighting before the reception (well, I did anyway). Shes paying for it, she has to feed it to her guests. Unless your ashamed of your work, I say why not.

Gotta say I agree with you on this. If we want the wedding cake to be treated the same as all the "other important stuff like the flowers, the dress, the lighting etc." then we shouldn't be offended if they want to see the wedding cake. I certainly wouldn't want a dress before I got to see it.
I'm in suspense also....op PLEASE give us an update
Well, I wonder how many brides would work within MY production schedule? On Friday's, while she is at her wedding rehearsal and possible rehearsal dinner I'm working on her cake sometimes in the early morning hours. I do not carry stacked cakes to the venue so she can view unstacked cakes. If I have multiple deliveries that day, then she would need to be at my house very early in the morning, for I can't sit at home to wait for her to see her cake. I did have one bride in seven years ask about coming over to see her cake. I explained my production schedule and I do not carry stack, she understood. I offered to send her a picture of the finished product.
While the bride selects flowers, I don't think they generally see the final arrangement until the florist arrives on the day of the wedding. I've even heard horror stories about the men's tuxedo order getting messed up. Again, you pick out the item but some things you just don't know until the day of the wedding.

Yeah but...if they give you a photo or a sketch to work from...then...they have sort of "seen" it...not to mention often they've tasted it...and if they don't trust you can replicate their cake...then...they shouldn't have hired you.
You don't hire a florist that can't replicate a bouquet....it would be the same as a baker I'd think.
And the dress is different since it has to be fitted...
I hope the OP is on holiday and not afraid to come post what actually happened! If the "artistic license" was not appreciated by the bride, the OP could end up with a lot of "I told you so" from this thread.
Did the bride get a picture before the wedding?
I would have sent a finished/ready for travel picture via email to the coordinator. Even if it was 2 am when you finished it Friday night. They can't demand what time you are capable of finishing it at your home!
Any word on how the favors were received, given that they were in 2 different sized wrappers and 2 different colors? That would make me worry as well if I was a stressed out bride, paying for perfection.
Hoping for a great outcome and news very soon pattycakes!!!
I just hope that OP did ok, no matter. I think of everything as a learning experience, and sometimes I learn the most from the hardest ones. I also would hope that she feels safe enough here, in this forum, to share with us. We could all use her experience to learn from, esp. me. Not sure what I would of done, probally would use this as a reference for sure! Truth in love, always...we support you.
I'm sure it was beautiful ~ Blessings
has anyone pm'd her? i don't want to do it and her have 15 messages and think we are ganging up on her! But hey- WE WANT TO KNOW!
I think it's a little sad, that all of you have nothing better to do, than hold your breath for an update on someone else's drama...
Oh, wait a sec... I've actually just described myself!
The Saga Continues...
Where is OP, did she get arrested for turning the bride into cake filling? Do we need to start collecting bail money? Or did OP tell them to all go eat cake and then she ran away with the groom and left the bride standing at the alter! Are the official cake inspectors going to meet the official police investigators and question all of us cc forum addicts? Are we witnesses to a crime?
Do we need to start a bail collection?
If so, SEND THE BAIL MONEY TO ME! I'LL HOLD ON TO IT FOR HER!
Just kidding!
Everything probably turned out fine and OP has been terribly busy making other cakes!
Stay tuned for for the next adventure in, "As The Kitchen Aid Mixer Turns"
