I can't get it to download I have word pad and works xp
MS Works does not include the Excel program needed to open that document.
True, google open office and there is a free program you can download or order the CD that works very similar to office!
Oh, I also created my own matrix and freely give it away. If anyone wants it just email me, I make updates and improvements so I don't like to post online so you can have current copies.
I can not get the Works Spreadsheet version to upload, if you need it and have Microsoft works send me your e-mail address and I will send it to you. Hope this helps.
Wow! This pricing matrix is excellent! Just downloaded it without problem and will use it in the future. THANK YOU to who ever took the time to do this and share it will the rest of us!
I've downloaded it a while ago (but lost it in a computer crash) but I could never figure out how to use it!! My math is so pitiful that my cakes always came out very cheap using the matrix. How 'bout a lesson for us math illiterates??
I downloaded this without a problem and it looks like an excellent tool to use but what do you do if you need to change something? For example, my recipe for the frosting is very different from the one in the sheet. How would I change this to suit my needs? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am not familiar with spreadsheets.
My matrix allows you to enter your own recipies. I'm coming out with version M very soon that will allow you to easily switch the recipies (they are numbered) and all of the values automatically change (you can also assign which pan you are using and it will automatically calculate how much frosting, batter, and filling you need to use)
if you would like a copy email me
I don't post online because I am always making it better and I want you to have a good copy and not an old copy that may have typos.
This is really great, thanks so much. I am working with it, trying to figure it out myself now..... Again thanks a bunch for it.
Debbie
Wow! Thanks for sharing the pricing matrix. It will be a very useful tool for me. Cheers!
I have a few questions..
1. Is the cost including fillings?
2. Are the cost including detailed work?
3. How can i set up for a slices to be 2x2?
I can't remember the others.. but this will help out. I'm tring to make a price list to hand potential customers..
thanks for all your help..
I have excel does that make a difference, I load the matrix and never seem to be able to get it to work?
I noticed back in January I added open office and it worked. But, since then I had a computer crash. I don't want to download a new program. I just wished it worked on what I have already.
Mine does. Customize it as you wish!
Wow, I will be trying this out.
If you don't have Microsoft Office software on your computer, you aren't completely out of luck. Sun Microsystems has published a program called OpenOffice that allows you to read and edit Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. They have free downloads available for most versions of Windows or Mac OS. All they ask in return is that you spread the word (so I'm paying for my copy right now!). Go to OpenOffice.org and check it out. It works beautifully. We're using it on some of our office computers to save money and we've had no problem with it.
This is such a lifesaver!! Thanks so much! Seriously, she should know that this is incredible!!
I downloaded the matrix and am playing around with it...I put in "2" layers of 11x15x2 cake. It says this will serve 154! Is this correct??
I have the same question. Is anyone replying to these questions?
I just wanted to add, here is another pricing matrix I made, modeled after Alice's professional matrix. This is the Home & Hobby Matrix.
Thanks,
Lisa
Thank you so much! I'm just starting out so I'm not charging anything besides the price of materials (I only do cakes for friends since I'm not great yet) and I've always wondered how I would eventually price cakes to sell! It's so wonderful of you to share this with the rest of us!
I downloaded this a few days ago and it truly is amazing! I have been doing cakes for family, and I never knew how much to charge. This really makes things a lot easier!! I accidently erased the formula in the cake column in the calulate price tab. Does anyone know the formula?

Hi mama! Your best bet would be to re-download the matrix you used, then copy and paste the function from the new spreadsheet into the old spreadsheet where it is missing. Hope this helps! Lisa (Loriana)
wow! this is great. I am a CPA and will be giving a "Are you making money?" seminar to KYICes DOS. I hope it's okay to include these spreadsheets as part of my presentation. I will site the CC forum and give credit. If this is not okay, somebody let me know. Thanks.

I certainly don't mind at all. Mine is the Home & Hobby matrix based on Alice Keeler's original. I am sure she wouldn't mind either, but you might want to touch base with her to make sure.
Mine is completely free-ware and meant as just a tool to help CC'ers and anyone else who wants to get an idea of what they are spending as a home baker or hobbyist (minus expenses that business must account for like rent, utilities, insurance, licensing and staff).
Thanks! Loriana (Lisa)
