Yes, you read that right, after lots of help from Izzybee, I am legal in PA. The inspector left about 5 minutes ago, and gave me the green light. I asked him a ton of questions on everything! If you get busted selling cakes without a license, the penalty will be $25-$50. It hasn't been raised since 1925. The inspector will probably just tell you to stop doing it without a license. I'm not condoning selling without a license in PA, just wanted to say the penalty isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. Now the fun part of drumming up business starts.
Wish me luck!
Congratulations! I'm so jealous. Oh well, someday.
Also, thanks for finding out the penalty for baking without a license. I've been too scared to ask. It's not as bad as I imagined. Good luck with your business!
Congratulations! This much be so exciting for you! I can't wait to get to the point where I can get licensed!
Congratulations!!! Wish it was that easy here in MD, I inquired with a local lady that quit the business and she said you have to have all stainless steel stuff and no indoor pets (which I knew and don't have any currently) and it's just so much stuff involved but I'm still going to call the HD and find out exactly what is needed to become licensed
Again CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I say we all make her a cake
Congratulations Meggylou!!
I also live in PA and I tried to go to that website PAport.com and it came up not found. Am I doing something wrong. Could you please give me the steps you took? I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks so much and lots of luck to you!!
Phyllis (I live in York)
Congratulations! Doesn't it feel great to follow the law. I understand that 25-50 dollars is not alot for people for a penalty fee, the problem is that just in case. Just in case someone gets sick from your food and you do not have insurance, then they go after everything that you own. It has happened, and could happen to anyone. My inspector told me about several cases here in Minnesota where people have died from "Bad Food" and that the person that made the food was being sued by the family.
Okay, off of my tangent.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations.
Could youi post some pictures of your kitchen and maybe tell about the progression of things.
Thanks and good luck .
