Can't wait to see the finished cake. You are doing an awesome job. I agree on side by side shots with the original.
Ok.......lets see what a similar cake that was in People Magazine is priced at:

Okay, I just got caught up on this thread.
This is what I love about CC... that this kind of work comes out of a thread.
I have to get my cake room reorganized and cleaned up (I've been avoiding it ever since my cake disaster) as I have a cake to do for this weekend, but then I think I'm going to start doing some cake dummies just to get my practice up. Not one of these cakes... but I'm going to start practicing more. You ladies have seriously inspired me.

Inspiring thread! I'm sure the real cake by SweetArt will be awsome and well paid!Loved the dummy cakes by Brandisbaked and FlowerGirl.
Spectacular work--you should be very proud (and tired!!) Now what would you charge for this beauty??
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. I would pay an arm and a leg to have that cake!!! Great job and thanks for always sharing your pics along the way. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 6 pages of this thread LOL
Amazing cake!!! Love the gold, LOVE the magenta/purpley color with the orange!!!
The link by Roberta1 to the Cakes by Sam for the pricing.... the pic of her cake has this wild gold bauble-bubble-sphere thingy as a topper... if you were to add a topper, it should be that one, SO cool!
When I grow up, I wanna be just like you!
What a phenominal job you have done. How many hours do you think you put in total and what would you charge now that you see how much work it was!
I hope this isn't too disappointing of an end to this long thread. As mentioned before, to get the cake into her budget, she simplified a lot of the aspects of the cake. In the end it looks like a watered down version of a Margaret Braun. She went with very pink and orange for the cake. It was a lot of piping and painting. I thought it was very "ornate", my husband said "gaudy". After his remark I began to hate the cake. I hesitated to even update the thread with a picture because of that. But when I got an e-mail from the mother of the bride afterwards, that they had loved it, I figured that was all that mattered and so I'd post it.
Misty:
Thank you for the gorgeous cakes you created for Christine and Ben's wedding. They were just what Christine envisioned. In addition, they were delicious. We received so many compliments on the cakes and everyone wanted to know who had created them. Of course, we shared your information with everyone who asked. I noticed the cake is on your website and can't wait for Christine and Ben to return from their honeymoon this Wednesday night to tell them.
CC wont let me upload a photo to my gallery right now, so I'll post the photo here along with step by step pictures. The inevitable questions of how much and how long: $900 and 7 hours of just decorating.
Well, I think it's a great cake! Even though it's not exactly like the MB cake you can see that you captured her style of cake. It's beautiful!
OMG! what a beautiful cake. Thank you for the step by step, not that I could recreate it, but very inspirational, and maybe I could incorporate some of the details. Also, what a great thread you started Thanks!
The final cake turned out beautifully! I love that style, carved or not, and the colors are just right!
Beautiful!! Thanks for the step-by-step pictures. I think the colors are wonderful and your design elements very Braun-esque. BE PROUD
you are dissapointed??!??!?!!! seriously lady,, that is some awesome work!! It looks wonderful, you should be so proud!!
