Does anyone have a good sugar cookie recipe I would like to make some cookies for a party (under the sea theme) I want to decorate them with icing kind of like the cookie bouquet?

In the recipe forum you will find the No Fail cookie recipe. Many have foudn it great because the cookies hold their shape. Also, Martha Stewart has a very good one for rolled sugar cookies.

This is the best one I have found:

1 cup butter, soft
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 400. Sift together dry ingredients and set aside.

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and extracts. Add dry ingredients 1 cup at a time. Do Not Chill. Divide into two balls. Roll out and cut into desired shapes. Bake 6-7 min.

I had to use flour on the rolling pin every time I rolled because the dough is a little sticky, but so far my group of guinea pig moms liked this recipe the best. Hope it helps.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. butter (softened)
3 1/2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine cream cheese and butter. Add half of the flour and mix well. Add sugar, egg, baking powder, and vanilla. Beat. Stir in remaining flour. Chill for 2 hours. Roll out on a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.

I really like this recipe! I have recently started using the No Fail recipe though since my husband doesn't like cream cheese.

Kahuna use wax paper to roll it out so it doesn't add flour to the dough and it's less mess! thumbs_up.gif
