i have been reading alot about the different kinds of dust you can use to decorate with ie.luster, pixie, petal etc. but i cant find a for sure answer on wether or not these are safe to eat, some i read said they use it on buttercream cakes all the times other said they would never let anyone eat it even tho its non-toxic so i was wondering if someone could clear this up for me please

there are a few that are particularly labeled 'food safe" but most are considered 'decoration'. they are non-toxic and most likely 'safe' in the quantities used on a cake.

If you are baking for customers you don't know, the dusts should be 'decoration' to avoid even a miniscule risk to a sensative person, particularly the metallics.
