I will be making 40 large "graduation" cookies for next week, I would like to cover them with fondant (would like to try MMF, have never done it before) but not sure how. Do I coat with BC, then cutout fondant with same cookie cutter and smooth on? What about the edges, how do they stay neat and on? Any thoughts or even pix would be appreciated. Thanx
Heather
I'm not a 100% sure about this question because I've never done it, but I would think you would need something to stick the fondant onto the cookie, so buttercream, piping gel, jam, something sticky
Anyone else out there please correct me because like I said I haven't dont this yet either.
I have covered cookies with fondant. I rolled the fondant pretty thin and used the same cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. I brushed on a thin amount of piping gel and layed the fondant on top. I then decorated with royal icing. I have a picture of some 'Easter egg' cookies in the gallery. Just click on the photo button under this reply.
If you put the fondant on the cookie while it is still warm it will melt onto the cookie and you don't need anything under it. Just don't put it on a hot cookie

i first glaze my cookies with powdered sugar/water/ cornsyrup mixture -front and back to help lock in the freshness and add extra flavor. Then i just place the fondant when the glaze is wet or just moisten the fondant and slap it on. Decorate with royal.
I made some fondant covered cookies for Mothers Day and I just brushed the back of the fondant with clear vanilla and then placed the fondant on the cookie. Then decorate with royal icing. This worked really well. I even shipped some of the cookies to my MIL in Colorado, and they made it just fine.
