Hi all,

Just wanted to know what everyone is doing for Easter... in terms of cakes, of course! icon_biggrin.gif I was planning to do a small cake with some cake balls shaped as eggs. Dunno if it will work but it seems like a good idea.

So, what are you all doing?

I'm doing our traditional lamb cake. The lamb cake has been a part of Easter for as long as I remember. My grandma had a norware lamb pan and she made it every Easter. Around 2000 or 2001 she passed the pan to me and told me it was now my job. Of course I had to put my spin on it. She always did a yellow cake, the first year I did it I made a strawberry, wasn't brave enough to do the red velvet yet, and since then I have done the red velvet cake for it.

The fun part is making it slightly different every year. icon_smile.gif

I'm also suppose to be making some cupcakes for my SIL to take to a bake sale at the school she teaches at.

I'm doing a cake I saw in Wilton's #3 book. The cake will be lemon with lemon curd filling / yellow buttercream w/white Easter lilies on top. I made the lilies last night (for the 1st time). I'm so excited to put it all together!

This IS a fun post. My niece has requested my chocolate pound cake - which I've never made in anything but a tube pan. Since I really want a cake to decorate, so I'm going to try it in 3 inch tall pan and see how it goes. Planning to do a basketweave on the sides with chocolate buttercream. And piped grass with flowers and/or jelly bean eggs on top.

I may also have to do the cupcakes my mom and I made from the time I was very little. Where you tint coconut green and make a nest on top for a few jelly beans. Just for nostalgia's sake.

My mom is in Florida with my little sister who will be having surgery next week so my family won't be getting together for Easter. We just moved my in laws up here 2 months ago so no 1.5 hr car trip one way with 3 young kids anymore!!!
My MIL is a pretty religious person and loves flowery stuff so I laid out cross cakes out of several wilton yearbooks and some I saved from here and DH picked a pretty simple one out of an OLD wilton yearbook. Yeah!
cupcakes w/ leftover batter will get simple grass with candy eggs on top for the kids, although I think I will go to dollar store today and look at plastic plates/cups to make a cupcake tree like those pictured in templates.

Please post your projects here when done!!

How exciting to do an easter bonnet! I just saw some plans in the women's world magazine about making a half ball pan on a big round cookie with fondant accents...this is something I'd love to try in the future some time. Please post to let us know how it turns out!! icon_biggrin.gif

i saw that idea! I really loved some of the pictures i found in the gallery here. i got a pan with my fondant set that is a 9" contoured pan (kind of rounded at the top (well, the bottom, which would be the top...) anyhoo, i thought that would make a good hat part and i would try my hand at a fondant brim.

i am really not too good at flowers, though, so i was thinking about silk ones? any other suggestions?

I've already done my cookies since I need them for Thursday. I made candy butterflies and flowers to go on cupcakes that have to be ready to go first thing Thursday morning for school. I'm making a carrot cake for Saturday night, I'm not sure how I'm decorating it.

I have lots of goodies to make. The Easter gifts I give out this year are going to be cookies...for my nephews I bought them sports themed baskets and I'm making them sports themed cookies (not very Easter-like, I know), my mom, sisters, in-laws, etc...are getting Easter themed cookies (bunnies, lambs, eggs, and so on). On Saturday my husband and all three children are getting baptized so I'm making a cross cake (to share with family and friends) and then on Easter day my kids will make a bunny cake (two round cakes, leave one as is for the face, cut the other one to make the ears and bow tie), that's family tradition for us! I did a few things already just practicing, sent them with the DH (ganache egg) and kids to daycare (blue bunny) in my photos.

I have some extra cupcakes all done up. I still have to post those Chicks, Ducks, Bunnies and little eggs. ( I took a spring decorating class a few weeks ago and love it. )

Now I just have to sit down with RI and make sugar cubes. Then for Sunday, I am thinking another Easter egg maybe.

Good Luck everyone.

I am making cupcakes for the kiddies. I am doing something simple since I'm making them here in Atlanta and they are traveling 8 hours in the car with me up to Raleigh. icon_smile.gif

They are just going to be white box mix in floral print cupcake liners with green "grass" buttercream and a yellow Peep on each one and maybe some flower shaped sprinkles.

I'm making cupcakes for my DD's kindergarten class and they will add coconut grass and roll MMF eggs to put on top. (blue, yellow and violet)

Ive got an Ice cream cake for Sunday and I'm going to make some egg, tulip and butterfly cookies (Shapes, not ingredients!) and try my hand at RBC to decorate with.

I haven't been doing much decorating for the past 5 yrs but can't wait to get back into it!
