Would it be to much to ask for someone to take a roadtrip down here to Tulsa??? HAHAH JK!
Ok I finally worked up the nerve to get in there and make some MMF from the recipe I found on here... I thought I was doing great until I got to the mixing part.... I have a kitchen aid but dont have a pyrex bowl for it just my metal one.. Well the recipe clearly says use pyrex bowl... Ok so genius me says well Ill just hold it under there while it mixes...So I make my little sugar well so I can pour melted marshmellow in the middle and now ready to mix....... No Big Deal Right? WRONG!! icon_surprised.gif
I kept hearing this crunch crunch so Im like Ummm that doesnt sound good while the whole time my mixer is jumping around up and down and I'm like Rut RO! ... I go to try to unlock it... ITS STUCK!!!!!!!! Im like OMG OMG OMG I broke my mixer .. ( I so feel like a drama queen at this point) anyway finally got it unlocked... Phew!! icon_wink.gif Well I lift the bowl up and OOOOPS it grinded the edges off the bottom of my bowl!!!! Chips of the bowl rim everywhere underneath... So Im like Grrrrrrr icon_mad.gif ok what to do what to do.. Looking back at recipe clearly says pyrex bowl mix.. OK so Im like well what do I do I dont have one that fits my mixer... (That so will change) and I still need to mix the other 1/2 of CSugar in.. so Im like ok its says mix by hand if you dont have dough hook... Ok I know mix by hand means with a spatula what ever.. Im from oklahoma people ! So I throw some latex gloves on grease em up and start mixing and kneading... WOW that stuff is S-T-I-C-K-Y icon_eek.gif
anyway ok looks mix feels like dough but kinda dull.. I wrap it up real tight letting it sit now... It doesnt look like much to me tho...

So if I make up another batch it wont hurt to use my metal bowl will it?? I mean if I grease it up and all? Did I even do any of the right????
I took a pic of what I have so far... So input PLEASEEEEEEEE icon_cry.gif

The fondant is wrapped in purple saran wrap... At least it's PRETTY icon_biggrin.gif

I use my metal bowl on my KA, but use a glass bowl in the microwave to melt the Marshmallows. That picture looks just about right to me. When you are ready to use it, if it is too stiff just pop some in the mircrowave for a few seconds and it will soften up.

The pyrex bowl is to use in the microwave when you melt the MM. Use your KA bowl when you blend it all. I hope your KA makes it out of this OK! icon_smile.gif

Helen I am so sorry but I am LMAO tears are streaming down my face and DH just had to see what was wrong with me.
I fear I can't be much help with the mixer-I don't use one when making MMF, but your pic looks right.
Thanks for the belly laugh!!

i think i've read that you can melt the marshmallows in one bowl, then go ahead and pour that into your powdered sugar that is in your kitchenaid bowl- just make sure everything is greased up. i usually do my mixing by hand because i only have the 250 watt mixer and i'm afraid to blow it up

It looks like it turned out ok to me!
I never use a mixer I always mix my mmf by hand , and I mean literally, I use a well greased spoon until it is well combined then grease up my hands and finish mixing it. I usually let it rest overnight and when I need it I pop it in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds and it softens right up and is easy to work with.

Good Luck!

Well, I use a KA w/ metal bowl, no problems for MMF. I don't remember seeing the part about not using it. Did it say why or what it would do? Mine has always turned out okay icon_biggrin.gif

Did you throw out your glass chipped fondant or did the glass scrape on the bottom as opposed to inside.

Oh you poor thing!! I always mix mine by hand too (I'm too afraid to burn out my motor). I also roll it out on a very lightly greased surface; I've never used cornstarch. Just a very very light coat of Crisco on the mat and the roller.

I don'u use cornstarch or powdered sugar either, when I roll it out. Wipe your surface, rolling pin or hands with Crisco. It won't stick and helps if it's a little dry. GOOD LUCK!!!

I tried that last time but it made the fondant to soft. I could not pick it up after rolling it out.

I use cornstarch. When the fondant dries a bit, I just use a dry pastry brush to brush it off. Comes right off.

I also wear latex gloves, when baking. You could use them when you have to use cornstarch. You will never feel it...... I get my 100 to a box at Walmart or The Dollar Store.
