Quilted Cake
I think this is the biggest cake I have done so far...it is a 14", 11" and 7" octagans...Hummingbird cake with cream cheese icing covered with MMF. All the quilt peices were done individually with royal icing and then attached to the cake. The topper is also all royal icing tulips, hearts and leaves. This cake was done for an Army Spouse who's husband was retiring after 34 years!! It weighted A LOT!
This is great!!! So bright and happy and sunny! :D
Interesting cake design for a military retirement!!! This is absolutely gorgeous! What time it must have taken to make all the royal pieces! Well worth it for sure!
Cakemommy - the cake was done for the Spouses' farewell that is why we picked the quilted cake - since she loved to quilt. I have to do the cake for the General's cermony in a few weeks!!! I hope I can pull that one off too!!!
Beautiful cake! So much work! I thought the quilt pieces were made of gumpaste. Astounding the way you work with royal icing!
You did a REALLY GREAT job on this!! It really does resemble a quilt...reminds me of my grandmother, she is a quilter...she'd love this! Nice work!!
