Present, Cake , And Cupcake on Cake Central

I made this cake in a decorating course by Collette Peters. It was an amazing experience and will always remember it. The cake is made with gumpast and fondant.

Thanks All. The best advice she gave me was to start from the bottom up. This allows more freedom to decorate and construct each layer. Also she tought me that I had much more patience thank I even knew about. lol

Wow, it really is somethin'!!! Looks like CP did it herself!! How long did it take? Can ya give us any tricks or hints?

If you didn't say you'd made it I would have thought Colette Peters herself had. It's amazing and gorgeous and you must be so pleased. I'm sooooo envious that you had studied with her, you lucky thing :)

That is a truly amazing cake! How long did this take to make? What an awesome thing to take a class with her. She seems like such a "real" person when I have seen her on television. How did you get the white SO shiny? is it a luster dust? It looks like satin. Way too cool. definitely adding it to my favorites!

Yep. this went into my faves :) What a GREAT job! Looks time consuming but worth every minute! I love every aspect of this cake! That is a really neat thing that you were able to take a class by someone so brilliant! :)

Hello all. Thanks for your gracious comments. I am from New York but traveled to Orlando to take a class with Collette at the Notter School. It was a fabulous trip and worth it. Yes teh cake has a wedge holding up teh lid. The lusters used were purchased from a company based in Las Vegas called ChefRubber.

Absolutely Gorgeous! Collette is one of my favorite decorators. As soon as I saw it I knew the influence.. heh I only hope I'm able to take one of her classes one day, as you did. It would definitely be something to remember, and you did an absolutely fabulous job. You should be SO proud! It's just beautiful.

Well this is absolutely beautiful and I'm sure you have made many more since this one. I too have learned that patience is a MUST in this business. :)

I'd love to do a gift cake. Is the lid to the gift just a cake board covered in fondant? I have always wanted to know that but keep forgetting to ask anyone. Again... EXCELLENT!! I met Colette last year at ICES she is a sweetheart!!
