I made this cake recently for a friends birthday. She was really in to the fondant ruffles, but she doesn't like the taste of fondant. I played around with a couple of ruffle tips and was finally able to make a buttercream ruffle flower that I was happy with. The only fondant on this cake is the pearl border and the little buttons I used for the center of each flower.
