This is my first attempt at making a gumpaste bow and a box cake. I have a wonderful time putting this together and learned a lot. Comments appreciated.
Outstanding! Very beautiful cake! Love the details.
I would never imagine that was your first attempt. Looks wonderful!
Nice job! Your bow came out great. It looks like you used luster dust for the sparkle, very pretty. Did you use an impression mat on the box?
this is really cool
It's gorgeous! You are a bow pro. :)
The bow is perfect. How did you do the texture on the borders of the bow?? Also how did you do the lid? I have to make a hatbox for the top of a wedding cake and im looking for ideas. I was just going to make it out of fondant and let it dry. Love the cake.
boonenati -- Thanks for your kind comments. I used a 8' round styrofoam for the lid instead of cake. I covered it with fondant -- that part was very easy. As for the bow, I used a small silicone pearl mold to make a string of pearls then attached them to strips of gumpaste. The real trick (I found) was to form the bow on a 3 inch gumpaste disk and "Glue" the individual loops together to form the bow with royal icing. The 3 inch disk helps it hold together stronger. I let my bow dry for 24 hrs. ...
its a fabulous job you have done, keep up the good work
