Baby Cake

This is a cake for a colleague at work who is leaving to study full-time to become a midwife. Hence the To a life of Miracles. My house was littered with Aine2 cake photos. You are such an inspiration! Also thanks to Katskakes for sharing some clay modelling instructions with me (the little teddy)

looks just like when you get them out of the bath. with the hair like that....I just can't believe how darn cute your babies are

that is so cute! great job making all the babies! and the tiny daisys are precious, how did you do that?

Thank you! The daisies are just a regular cutter but then I rolled little balls of gumpaste and brushed them in edible glue and then rolled them in edible glitter. Time consuming but I think worth the effort. The green fondant is just regular white fondant (we only get pettinice in New Zealand) and it is coloured with the Wilton colour leaf green. Its really humid and hot here at the moment so this cake was a bit of a nightmare).

Hi, for the faces I use Aine2 "how to make a face tutorial" You can find this my looking under her profile and going to her blogspot. For the bodies I used the Wilton fondant book as a guide. HTH

I know this is a couple of months old, but are there any tutorials on how to make these babies? They are absolutely precious, the whole cake is.

Katharry, you are so incredibly talented! The eyes on those babies and the shading on their cheeks are so realistic--one of the most precious cakes I think I've ever seen!
