Display Wedding Cake
I've been working on this display cake for my cake studio since I needed more buttercream examples, and have been wanting to do a tall tiered hydrangea cake (I love these flowers). I had a really hard time smoothing the royal icing onto the styrofoam....any advice on doing better for next display cake iced in royal would be received graciously!!
This is one gorgeous Victorian cake.
You are very talented!
Beautiful!
Beautiful decorating
Looks great. I have to do a wedding cake like this in a few months.
absolutely gorgeous! are those pearls or dots of icing on the sides?
Did you put the saran wrap on it first? I know that makes it a little smoother than just the styrofoam. HTH!!!
Beautiful!
there are pearls and icing on the cake. The dots doing up the side are icing, and there are two strings of pearls wrapped around the base of each tier. I did not put saran wrap on, but next time, I will. Does anyone know how thin or thick should the royal icing be when you put it on the styrofoam? I ended up dipping the icing in water and then smoothing, because the styrofoam did not have enough weight to let me work with the thicker icing.
Wow! That is truly a beautiful cake.
