We have been working like crazy to delete the over 400+ posts and PMs that have gone out from sweet little Helen just looking for happy love. DO NOT CLICK ON THE HYPERLINKS IN THE EMAILS, especially the one that says cakecentral.com. I don't know what virus it will load on your computer but it WILL load a virus on your computer. It will NOT take you to us.
Our email notification system is overloaded by all these spam attacks so even though we have already deleted the spam post from the thread, the email with the spam message is clogged in the system and they are still going out.
I want to take this moment to tell you to upgrade and make sure you all have current virus protection on your computers and run a full system scan.
Things like this didn't happen but they do. Sorry.
Is something going on, too, with the two recent posts of "Stilhaus Kitchen Review"?
People are ridiculous!
I got a PM from helen4u basically hitting on me! Disgusting. I was wondering what was going on. Glad to know but sorry it's happening.
Didn't get any emails or PMs, but I certainly saw (and attempted, without apparent success, to report) some spam posts on various threads.
Of course, where email as a vector for malware and/or online fraud is concerned, there is one absolutely sure way to stop it dead in its tracks: disable HTML in your email reader, and only enable it for specific, known-legitimate, messages from trusted sources.
HTML was never intended as an email format, and as soon as you disable HTML rendering, malicious senders may still be able to obfuscate the true targets of hyperlinks, but they can't actually hide them, and neither can they force your email reader to open "payloads" without your knowledge and consent.

Yup, I got hit on my Helen too, three times. Also tried to report it as spam, without success.
And there's me thinking Helen and I had something special... ;) Hope it gets sorted soon and doesnt cause too much hassle. =]
Clarification: Cake Central was not hacked, just several spammers creating accounts.
The emails you would get are just the standard email notifications you get from cake central when there are new posts in threads you are subscribed to.
Yes the links in those posts could take you to some place that has malware on it, but you will not get a virus from open the cakecentral emails.
The moderators have done a great job of trying to remove all the offending posts and disable the spammer accounts are quickly as we find out they are there. We are looking into making some other changes to block the spammers, however it can be difficult as spammers are very resourceful at circumventing forum admin efforts.
Cake Central is not the only site that poor Helen has been looking for love on ... other forums sites are also under spam attack by the same darling ...
This one is different than Helen's posts - all of the post heading fonts are screwed up on my screen.

AShe likes me. Actually says I'm her type / the type she loves. Aww shucks.
