I boycot a local restarant even though they are really good, because once I saw an old man complain and the owner handled it in the worst way possible. The man had a party of 6 or 8, his kids and college age grandchildren. The restarant was mobbed, drinks took like 15 minutes to come, all of them weren't served their food at the same time, it was cold, etc. When the bill came the man asked for the manager and the owner came. The old man very politely stated his case 9(he had a good point, we were watching the table the whole time and what he said was true) and the owner told him he wasn't taking anything off the bill. The man politely protested and the owner said "Pay your GD bill or I'm calling the Fing cops."

Haven't been back since, and have told everyone I know not to go there. That was in 2000.

Yeah, I do too!

My local McDonalds for one! Every other McDonalds around I can get my grilled chicken combo and one container of BBQ sauce for my fries. I pay the same price at all the McDonalds. Well, my local McDonalds has decided that I have to pay if I want sauce unless I order mcnuggets!!! I was so mad the first time this happened. I filled a compliant, and the manager called me. He didn't understand why I had filled the compliant, he kept asking well was the food not good or was the server not nice to you. I kept telling everything was fine except the policy was crap!! He tried to tell me that the cost of the sauce is figured into the nuggets and not anything else. My question was well then why are your prices the same as other restaurents and I get it there?? icon_confused.gif

I do now... I decided to take my children to get ice cream, I went to the window, the girl there was rude for one. I ordered 2 sm soft twists, and 3 sm hard ice creams. I received the hard ones, and one of the soft ones, I asked her where my other soft was, she said I didn't order it. I said yes I did, I asked her to see the receipt and she didnt charge it on there. At this point, I am already fuming, and really ticked, I returned to the car, and sat for a minute. I checked what the cost was, and it was NO WHERE near what the price was for the cones I did get. I went back to the window, and asked her how much those cones came to it was like 11.00 and change. I said, NO!!!! Even with the state taxes and stuff I did the math on MY calculator in front of her and it worked out to about 8.00. The owner came to the window, and she said that the register was right, and I was wrong. So from now on, I WON"T take my kids to that ice cream place again. We pass by them almost everyday, and I won't even look at it. The kids always say in the car, don't go there they are a rip off. Live and learn I guess. tapedshut.giftapedshut.giftapedshut.giftapedshut.giftapedshut.gif

KMART... Bought an umbrella for my patio table and found out it was just too heavy for the table. Had the tag still attached to it. The only thing I did was take it out of the plastic and because I didn't have my receipt they would not let me have a gift card or exchange it. I never asked for any money back just to be able to exchange it for something else. The manager said I could only exchange it for another one just like it. Well gee seems to me if the first one was too big then the second one would be too icon_twisted.gif

I boycott a couple of different automotive places. One place I dropped my car off for an oil change at 3:40 for a 4:00 appointment I had made. I had to go to a meeting for work and told them to leave the keys in the car as I would not make it back before they closed. I even paid in advance. No problems. So get out of the meeting early at 6:00 and make it back to the place at 6:30 while they are still open. The car hadn't moved and they told me they wouldn't be able to change the oil until tomorrow so if I wanted to leave it I could. ?!?!?!? Umm hello, what is the point of making an appointment if you aren't going to keep it and you can't keep it within 3 hrs?

The next place I took it too broke the cover over my battery (when they had no reason to even look at my battery... another oil change) and when I went to leave they told me that my battery was low, but they could replace it for $92.00. They even highly recommended that I not turn the car off b/c I might have problems turning it back on the battery was so low. Well what a load of bull that was, I hadn't had ANY problems starting the car so I was like screw it, went home talked to BF about it, he thought same thing I did. So we turned the car off, went to leave and it wouldn't start, took it to another place we have car work done at and they said it looked like the battery had been messed with (along with them stretching out the cord that opens our hood so we had to have that replaced too)

Hmm... There is a car dealership I boycott also... Must just me and car places b/c they think I am gullible since I am female. Bah!

When I was little, my grandmother and I took painting classes together. On the way home, she stoped and got me a happy meal. We got home and I went to eat me burger and there was no meat!! We had gotten two burgers and neither had any meat. We called up there and said that if we would come back up there they would give me another. It was already 10:30. My mother was like "NO way, it's late and my kids have got to get to bed." So later that week we went back and got meat with our burgers!! icon_biggrin.gif

I boycott my old workplace LOL No I am serious .. I worked there for over five years and my family and friends were regular customers .. then one day the owner flipped his lid, backed me into an enclosed office with him and two other men, got in my face and basically forced me to quit and threatened to never let me receive unemployment in fact he said it was his lifes goal to make sure I never receive unemployment! Needless to say my family and friends have stopped going there and we tell everyone what kind of place that really is!

Id like to also add that I DID get my unemployment!

Target. They allow the pharmacist to refust to fill a legal prescription for the pregnancy prevention pill. If you have a legal prescription, the pharmacy should fill it-regarless.

I am certain they issue plenty of viagra.

I tell you I am darn near ready to boycott my local cracker barrel.......... the last 2 times I have been there (probably over the course of a year) I have had the lousiest (is that a word?) service ever! People who are seated after us get to see a waiter/waitress first, it literally took 15 minutes for someone to even come and see what we wanted to drink..and when you are dining with a 2 year old you want to order fast! I swear even though we have sat in different parts of the restaraunt we are like the forgotten patrons. I am also to the point where I avoid many restaraunts who allow smoking (or at least who dont have them well seperated)....now that we know how dangerous second hand smoking is, I am amazed that we allow it in public places (bars to me should be the exception).

Off my soapbox.

I boycott the McDonalds by my house. For probably 2 years straight after I would take my oldest DD to school I would go meet my MIL for breakfast up there. Everyone knew us even the managers. They would always talk to my kids and would ask about us if we happend to not go one day. Anyways, it was almost spring time where it was warm in the afternoon but still really cold in the mornings. We went in there and they had the air on. It was freezing cold in there. It was sold cold I had to leave my kids coats on. So I asked my MIL who was at the counter to have them turn on the heat. She did and they told her that the cooks in the back get hot so they can't turn it on. icon_confused.gif It's 40 degrees outside and they can't turn the heat on because of the cooks?? From my understanding aren't there supposed to be different thermostats for the dining area? Anyways I had it so I went up there. Got very rude with the main manager told her my children were freezing could they please turn the heat on. She gave me dirty looks and said fine with a snotty attitude! The nerve of this woman. After that we still would go in, but everytime we would the 2 B's of managers would sit there and glare at us or start talking about us. How childish! You know I wouldn't be so mad if we weren't regular customers. They had the nerve to send one of the cashiers out to all of the customers in the dining room to tell everyone that "We're sorry it's so hot in here, there were some complaints on the heating" That was it!! They pushed me too far!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif My MIL knows the general manager so needless to say there was a call put in to him. We went in to meet with him and he apoligized and gave us free meal coupons. He told us that he's had so many complaints about that store. Well if there were so many complaints them fire them! Well after all of this I do not eat there anymore. Which is fine because we have like 700 McDonalds here. I just can't believe the nerve of these people.

Bennigans-it's been one of me and hubby's favorite places to go to since way back in the day when we were dating. We took the kiddies there last summer when I was preggers with baby #3 and as we're walking to our table I overhear a waiter saying, 'Oh no! Not another table with kids!' And of course he turns out to be our waiter. We sat down, I told hubby and we left. We waited 7-8 mos. before going there again. This time the music they were playing was totally inappropriate-like 'Wrong Way' whose starting lyric is:

Annie's 12 yrs old and tomorrow she'll be a wh*re

That was just one of them! I know my kids are young and don't know what these words mean but just the same, do I really want them to hear it?!?!? We won't be going there again.

I boycott the Little Ceaser's pizza place in the KMART by my house. I ordered two pizzas. I was waiting at a table when a lady came in with six kids. She ordered four pizzs and sat down. Her kids were loud and crazy, so she yelled at the guy making the pizzas to hurry. He hurried and gave her the pizzas. I was in shock! I'd already been waiting for 20 minutes, where were my pizzas?! I went up to him and said where are my pizzas? I was here first! He said that he had to get her out of there because the kids were so bad! You better believe I got my money back! Now I drive an extra 15 minutes to get Little Ceaser's!

I've heard about this at other places! Apparently there is some law that allows companies to refuse to dispense the 'morning after' pill!!! It's OUTRAGEOUS!! Since when is it up to the pharmacist to decide what medication you need??? Last time I checked, that was the doctor's job! icon_mad.gif

Boycotted P&G for 20 years because they performed unnecessary animal testing (which didn't guarantee human safety).

Also boycotted State of Louisiana for 20 years because they didn't have any women in their legislature, and have a large number of polluting industries.

Boycotted canned tuna for awhile until the fishing industry incorporated dolphin saving technology.

No tourism to Canada, until they stop killing baby seals and address the land rights of indigenous tribes.

Boycotting fur indefinitely! Death by anal electrocution or poisoning, etc...

Boycotting all Chinese imports (including fish & other foods) because of the unfair trade deficit (and the fact that the Chinese have no concept of quality control, non-polluting technology or sustainable farming).

Boycotting veal indefinitely. Being continuously confined in a tiny dark standing crate and being fed only watery antibiotic laced gruel until slaughtered....

Foie Gras. Force feeding ducks (some die from injuries sustained by this practice, or their livers burst) for a luxury food....

The Democratic Party....for so many reasons. Voting for Ron Paul in 2008!

P.S. The Wal-Mart pharmacies also don't stock the "morning after" pill. icon_mad.gif

Office Max. If they don't have something that is listed in their sale flyer (at opening, on the first day of the sale--so they're not "out", they never had it), they won't give a raincheck.

Kohls. Bought a pair of khaki pants to wear to work. Bought them a little bigger than necessary as I do not like "fitted" pants and I always worry about shrinkage. Washed them----Shrunk to ridiculously small size! Kohl's said that since I washed them I couldn't return them or exchange them. How was I to know they would shrink if I didn't wash them?!!!!!

The pharmacists that won't dispense certain drugs infuriate me. As far as I am concerned, their job is to take the little piece of paper and follow the instructions on them. If my doctor thinks that I need it, then it is none of the pharmacist's business, regardless of his/her beliefs. And if they think it is wrong-that's between me and God.

If a known addict comes in with a prescription for pain killers, the pharmacist has to make a moral decision whether or not to give them medication that may harm them. This is the same thing-it is a moral decision. They have put pharmacists in the middle of this debate. If you were asked to do something you thought was morally wrong where you work, would you still do it?
And it's not just between you and God, what if someone wanted to commit suicide? Would you give them a gun and say it's on your head now?
I know I am in the minority here thinking this way and that's fine. But we are in a free country, where no one should be forced to do something that goes against their religious beliefs.

OK, about pharmacists......
I agree people should not be forced to do things that go against their beliefs within reason.
But, how do pharmacists make the determination that someone is an addict and not just honestly in need of the meds?!?! You can't just go around assuming things about people. I thought that if a pharmacist felt that way about a patient their duty was to call the attending doctor and discuss it with them. Ultimately the doctor is the one responsible for the medication.
Normally I wouldn't care about an issue like this but recently I had a friend who was stalked by a local pharmacist and, in the end, his real issue wasn't her prescriptions but the fact that he had the hots for her. So, it wasn't ever about his moral duty in the end. It was about his lack of morals.

ok, off my soap box now!!!!!!

'Then they should choose a different profession.' So they go to school for 6 yrs, spend thousands of $'s on their education but they should choose a different profession when it would be easier for someone to go to a different pharmacy?
Star_dust-the example I was using was a KNOWN addict, not someone who is a SUSPECTED addict. I worked in a pharmacy for 7 years and there were people who were known to bring in fake prescriptions, or go to a bogus doctor who didn't care about the patient, only cared about getting the money from the insurance company for treating a patient. If the doctor is ultimately responsible for the repercussions of giving faulty meds-what should a pharmacist do? Just give out the medicine?
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but pharmacy isn't the only profession out there where jerks are employed .
