Dora The Explorer Cookie Ideas! Help!
Baking By melxcloud Updated 4 Apr 2006 , 8:25pm by golfgirl1227
I've been asked to make Dora the Explorer cookies. I cannot find a dora cookie cutter and I just don't know what to do.
I am going to suggest Boots the monkey, but i'm sure they will want Dora as well.
Please help!

Melissa,
Dora's head is kind of shaped like a football...mabe you could use a large football cutter & draw her hair and face on.
Wilton sells this kit to make Dora cookies. I know you wouldn't use that and yours will be original, but if you look at the cookie cutter they use for her face, it is sort of a football shape. Maybe it even looks like a large pair of lips? Maybe you could modify a leftover lip cookie cutter from Valentine's Day? LOL?
Good luck!
Why not use cardstock or cardboard and get pictures from

I placed some cookie making tips in a previous thread. Here is the link. Scroll down.

SHenyd, do you know whose work those cookies are or which site they came from? When we know, we are supposed to say so, if we don't we say we don't know where they came from. Not sure if you realized that, a lot of the newer members don't.

melxcloud........when I can't find the cookie cutter I need I just make a template out of the plastic sheet thingies that you can buy at the craft store for making your own stencil! I trace over a photo, cut out the template and lay it on the dough, cut around, bake and decorate! They work great, and I even throw them in the top rack of my dishwasher and they're reuseable!! Maybe that's an option if you think you probably won't use them again too, the plastic sheets are 3 for $2.....so much cheaper than a cookie cutter anyhow!
I always label the picture with the website. I'll try to remember to write it in the post. I thought the label wiould be enough.
Thanks for everybody's input.
I ended up getting a big football cutter and did Dora's head. The customer decided she didn't want to pay $2/cookie, so i then bought the Wilton Dora Make a Cookie Kit. I only took pics of the first set of cookies, which I didnt' like that much. I like the look of the smaller cookies better.
Obviously i need to work on my detailing more, but i am slowly getting better at it.

Haha, it likely would be if people recognize the name, just in this case it looks like a description, not the site name.
It is just that a lot of people post pictures without crediting the site or decorator which they are supposed to do. Wasn't sure if you knew that or not.

no problem, i usually have only one hand to type with cause of the kiddos, so i was just trying to save time by not typing it twice. but, i see your point.
great results on your Dora and Boots cookies!
I like these cookies by tastycakes (from the gallery). I just had a customer with a Dora Starcatcher themed party and I wanted her to do cookie favors so I could do these.
You could cut any other shapes out of cardboard and use it as a template. So you could make Dora heads, backpacks, maps, etc. That would be FUN!
