This is for a 4 year old girl, friends of the family. My first inspriation was from the Frosting with Flair wesite (just love her work!) I also used the wilton 2007 yearbook for the awning (though the template is WRONG!) I had to have my DH help me with the engineering for the awning as I found it needed to be very precise! I am pretty happy with the outcome, but I do not know if I would want to make this cake again!! The horses are chocolate transfers. Thanks for looking!
This was made for my little boys Christening everything is edible even the horses
This was my entry for the Mid Atlantic Cake Show. This was my first realy cake competition. The bottom and top are 12×2 rounds and the middle are four 6″ hexagons. THere is a 1 1/2 dowel thru the middle that is screwed into the bottom and top board for support. For the horses I made a mod and then molded them with gumpaste. Each horse was decorated differently. The majority of the pieces on the cake were gumpaste or fondant. The pics on the bottom cake were hand painted. TFL

My wedding just so happens to be Steampunk, and in about one month- the perfect time to start my cake. I’ve scrambled to finish in time to upload my cake to be able to participate in this contest! The actual wedding cake will have one more tier- but that would spoil if I baked and decorated it just yet.The cake piping is royal icing and the figures and flowers are hand modeled from fondant. Everything is hand brushed and painted (except the blue and purple piped icing).I had a lot of fun with the design of this cake- it’s very frilly and Victorian, while still being fun and tinkery- which to me is pure Steampunk. The blue and purple are for our birthstones, and the animals for the carousel (it revolves) are my favorite African animals because I’m living here in South Africa with my fiancé until July (we’re moving to the US and having a second ceremony).
