This was really a birthday cake for someone who collects rubber ducks, but, I figured I'd post it here! My first attempt at MMF, I will definitely use that technique now and forever, I loved it!
My first attempt at FBCT! I wish I would have remembered that I was going to do the yellow burst behind the image, but I forgot and put white icing behind the transfer, but I'm still happy, I've learned another new technique on Cake Central!
Almost ended up as a 'DUMP' cake, notice how the icing melted down everywhere? 105 degree heat and I FORGOT to turn on my REAR air in my Durango...after all that work! Fortunately, they loved it anyway and didn't notice the problems with it, they thought it was great.
This cake was based off a cake from Earlene, she does such beautiful work! I purchased the hunting stencil from her...this cake went over in a big way, took 12 orders for similar cakes (some I had to create different stencils for, but it was fairly easy).
This cake was made for a celebration welcoming our new priest and blessing our new rectory. Could also be done for any religious occasion, baptisms, etc. The 'stucco' effect was acheived by first icing the cake in buttercream and allowing it to crust, then thinning out some buttercream with water until it had a thin consistency and then I patted it onto the cake with a paper towel scrunched up.
Cake was delivered 50 miles away, I was scared, but it was a first attempt at fondant bows, the pattern presses came from Earlene's Cakes.
