I did this cake for my son's 3rd birthday. My husband, who is an electrician and has seen his fair share of construction sites, helped a lot with the design. The main part of the cake is chocolate buttercream. My husband and one of my daughters do not like chocolate icing so I made the green "parking" area with buttercream.
This cake was for my nephew's 1 st birthday which had a safari theme. My sister bought the animals and the large rock as a set at Toys R Us. The small rocks are chocolate candies that I purchased at a local cake and candy supply store. I had a lot of fun putting this together. The kids loved that they could eat the rocks and everyone loved the hippo that we stuck in the watering hole!
