Bridal Cake Topper
After joining SkillShare and online learning platform at the beginning of the year, I wanted to create a class that taught how to create a sturdy and super cute bridal cake topper out of modelling paste and gum paste. You can see the full class here https://www.skillshare.com/r/profile/Nadia-Jay/5249911
Woodland Wedding Cake With Violet Clematis And Lime Green Hydrangeas
I wanted to play with texture here, and move away from the clean and smooth fondant finish that we all painstakingly aim for. The fondant is embossed, scratched, wrinkled and worn to give the look of earthenware stone. I have then added a shock of colour with gum paste violet Clematis and lime green Hydrangeas
Dog Wood Gum Paste Flowers And Wild Mushroom Wreath
I was browsing through this gorgeous floristy book, when I came across this idea to take dog wood flowers ( my favourite) and arrange them into a wreath with moss. SO I had to recreate this in sugar / gum paste and add edible gum paste mushrooms too. It was a real labour of love, to try and achieve a realistic look.
Woodland Enchanted Forest Wedding Cake
I handcrafted each of the tiny wildflowers and berries you see here on the cake out of gum paste. I added feathers and 'old mans beard' around the wreath I had wired as I love to mix mediums in cake design. I was so lucky to have an incredible photographer friend Elena Popa Photo capture this cake in the perfect woodland setting, over in Wickerwood Farm East Sussex ( England)
Using squires kitchen flower paste, I created this wired Poinsettia in a pearlised blue after seeing a gorgeous Christmas decoration in this colour. I added non-toxic disco dust glitter to the centre to give it a real shimmer, and just keep it really festive and pretty.
