First Time Three Tier Cake
My friends needed cake for their reception. She wanted a vanilla cake with lemon filling with buttercream frosting, and fall colored flowers. The rest was up to me. With the amount they needed I knew it was time to attempt a tiered cake so I researched structure and support until I felt sure of myself, and went for it. It stayed together, it didn't lean like Pisa, and everyone said it tasted great, so I'm putting it in the success column! Boy did I learn some things doing this cake! I used the WASC cake recipe from this website, and the Dream Whip crusting buttercream recipe as well. Everyone said the cake was delicious including people who didn't know who'd made it, so I have to assume they were being truthful. I have a white cake recipe I like the flavor of a tiny bit better, but I'd use this one again for it's obvious crowd pleasing properties and overall sturdiness. The buttercream was adored. I didn't see a single plate with it scraped off of the cake which is unusual in a crowd setting. I'd definitely use it again. It seemed a bit less sweet than the standard buttercream.

Fondant Cake 3 Crumb Boss Pumpkin Cake Recipe Filled With Cinnamon Butter Cream And Covered In Mmf I Learned A Lot With This Cake Inclu
Fondant cake #3. Crumb Boss' Pumpkin Cake recipe filled with cinnamon butter-cream and covered in MMF. I learned a lot with this cake including several things I'd do differently next time. The topper was inspired by several different turkeys I saw in the galleries here but I don't remember the names of the people who made all of them. It's made with MMF, modeling chocolate, and gum paste.

Eyball Cake
This is the second cake I made with fondant. I used marshmallow fondant, orange flavored cake, and filled and iced it with orange flavored French Buttercream since I had tons left from the French Macarons I'd made earlier. The paint I used for the iris didn't work the way I hoped but it still turned out okay I guess. I won a Best Creepy Creation prize for it so that was fun. =)

Matts Birthday Cake
My friend who makes all kinds of amazing cakes got really sick right before her sons birthday. She had already drawn up what she wanted to do so I decided to offer up my help despite not really knowing what the heck I was doing. All things considered, I think it turned out pretty good for my first cake. I made marshmallow fondant, and made the tombstone and hand out of rice krispies and she helped where she could with gluing things on and placing and coloring some of the fondant. Everything is edible and the only store bought stuff was the tiny pumpkins on the border, the gummy worms, and the cookies to make the graveyard dirt. I'd do some things differently, but for a first time cake, I think it turned out pretty good. The Birthday boy loved it.
