This ocean themed birthday cake was for a co-worker's daughter's 7th birthday party. The birthday girl wanted dolphins on her cake, and of course I had to take things a few steps further by adding turtles, sharks and other sea creatures! The cake was vanilla with homemade chocolate butter cream filling, covered in homemade marshmallow fondant. All of the decorations are fondant/gumpaste mix.

Strong Man Going Away Party Cake
* A co-worker of mine had gotten a new job, and for his going away party I wanted to make a parody of him in fondant! He's obsessed with lifting weights and works out 2 hours every day, so I made a slightly exaggerated muscle-bound version of him to top the cake. The cake itself was homemade chocolate cake with fresh strawberry filling, covered in homemade marshmallow fondant.

Lego Star Wars Cake
* A friend of mine wanted a custom cake for her son's birthday and knew she wanted to incorporate her son's love of Legos and Star Wars, so this is what we came up with! I found a ton of Lego themed cakes online centered around Lego construction men "constructing" a cake and revealing the Legos underneath the fondant, and others that were Lego themed with Star Wars characters, but nothing exactly like this. I wanted to give the impression that there had been a battle and laser blasts had blown away the fondant to reveal the Legos underneath. The birthday boy didn't even realize this was a cake at first!

Fancy Hat Cake
* The local historical society was holding a community auction to raise money to make improvements to one of their preservation sites and the theme was "Fancy Hats". This cake was made from 3 tiers of white cake with vanilla buttercream frosting filling and covered in homemade marshmallow fondant. The bow and "hovering ribbons" were made from fondant/gumpaste, and the jewels were my first attempt at making and pouring isomalt.

This was a birthday cake for a gentleman who really loves cigars! The cake is marble covered in marshmallow fondant. The "cigar" is marshmallow fonadant colored grey to give the effect of ashes at the end, rolled in a thin layer of chocolate fondant. I actually watched videos showing how to roll real cigars in order to make mine look as authentic as possible!

"baby" Baby Shower Cake
This cake was for a co-worker's baby shower. She wouldn't tell anyone whether she was having a boy or a girl, so I kept the colors neutral. There were a lot of guests as well, so having a separate cake for the head and another for the body allowed me to serve a lot of people.
