Recording Studio Mixing Board Cake. This cake was made for Frank Liddell, who is a country music producer here in Nashville. He is married to Lee Ann Womack. I was commissioned to make this cake for Frank by his sister, Lise Liddell. They requested a mixing board with a guitar, whiskey bottle, beer, a tracking sheet, guitar picks and, since Frank has won them, an ACM & CMA award. The cake is a representation of just a corner of an actual mixing board, in order to keep things to scale. The Jack Daniels bottle is isomalt with an icing sheet for the label (I made a brown one and a clear one just in case of an emergency). The beer can and the two "awards" are krispy treats, the tracking sheet is an icing sheet with the names of all the artists that Frank has produced, the guitar picks are wafer paper and the Martin guitar headstock is modeling chocolate with angel hair for the "strings." The faders, buttons & knobs on the mixing board are all gumpaste. This turned out to be an amazing experience and the family invited me to stay for the party. Needless to say, that doesn't happen very often for us in this business! It was so much fun and I got to see and visit with many old friends of mine in the music industry, as well as meet new ones. Yay for cake!!!

Day Of The Dead/rock N' Roll-Themed Birthday Cake For Bebe Buell
This rock n' roll birthday cake was made for Bebe Buell, who celebrated her 60th birthday in Nashville this past week. Bebe is known for being a musician, model and muse to icons such as photographer Bob Gruen and Andy Warhol, and mother to Liv Tyler, who was in Nashville to celebrate with her mother. Bebe loves skulls and all thins gothic so I went with that theme and even made my own pink sugar skulls!

White Rose Wedding Cake
This was a very simple (read difficult) cake to pull off. Getting those corners sharp is sooo hard! Made for a sweet lady and her Marine, this cake was to be architecturally interesting as well as classically romantic. The bride wanted it to be all white with a monogram. Sugar rose sprays all in white were added for soften the design.

Willie Nelson Painted Birthday Cake
Oops! I obviously did not read the rules about posting photos with people (me & Willie) in them :( So, here's my Willie Nelson cake again! This cake was commissioned by CMT to present to Willie Nelson for his 80th birthday on CMT's Top 20 Countdown show, which will air this coming Saturday. It was filmed at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN, during rehearsals for the All For the Hall benefit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame. The cake was white almond with vanilla buttercream and I hand-painted the face of Willie Nelson using black & red food coloring & vanilla-infused vodka. I got to meet Willie and he was the nicest person. I will remember this for the rest of my life!

Jack White/third Man Records Cake
This was made for Jack White's Blunderbuss Album Release/Third Man Records Third Anniversary Party back in March of this year. They were very specific as to the design of the cake. The bottom cake was made to look like their record player (he's really into vinyl records) and the other elements all represent the record company's logos. The Tesla tower on top is also edible.

Birds Of My Neighborhood Wedding Cake
I am a huge fan of the innocence mission. And I am obsessed with birds. I found a book of lullabies for my newborn daughter and it had these lovely blue and red birds illustrating the cover. I wanted to create a wedding cake inspired by that... the birds are hand-painted with gumpaste eyelet lace at the borders and a small peony bud. One of my all-time favorites.
