Of course your own child is going to give the biggest challenge. He wanted Despicable Me & Superheros so I decided the minions would totally run around in costume. Love the idea but am just "meh" on the execution, I had huge challenges while creating this and I had to rush the details in the end. Minions are RKT and fondant, characters are fondant all over buttercream. Chocolate fudge cake.

Strawberry cake with Banana Cream filling. This was my fist time using sugar sheets, with no guidance I was not impressed as the cracked and softened for the cupcake paper. This was also my first time with the fondant face technique, I liked it and am looking forward to doing this more often and perfecting.
I was inspired by RCNO's cupcakes. The kids loved them.
I ran out of time to plan so I threw this together at the last minute for my MIL with flowers I had left over from other projects and bachelor buttons (her favorite flower). I lucked out with my chocolate cake, caramel & coconut filling, she was going through a coconut phase. I was playing a little with new food coloring and she loves pinks.

This was an interesting adventure - white cake with Buttercream covered in fondant. Lots of fondant tearing successfully covered up by flowers made from fondant, RI, & B/C. The request was for a 11 y/o girl who likes the garden. I tried to incorporate all the spring flowers I could think of. The Lilacs are from my yard.
Chocolate cake for a little Noah's 1st Birthday - the only request was for a rainbow, there was a rainbow the day he was born. I followed Winbecklers guide for piping the animals.
This is my first attempt at a Fondant cake. White cake B/C Icing. The characters are from one of her presents (plastic toy). I ended up putting the #3 in the hearts & the 3 puffs in the corner are where we put the candles. The request was candles & her name on the cake.
